Two-year-old Exeter will try to give the Lindsay Park stable back-to-back wins in the Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings when he makes his debut at Caulfield.

The stable won the Listed race with Long Leaf a year ago and has Exeter set to step out in Saturday’s 1000m-event on the same program as the Blue Diamond Preview for fillies.

Exeter won a recent jump-out at Flemington and co-trainer Ben Hayes is looking forward to seeing how the colt measures up on debut in one of the traditional Blue Diamond Stakes lead-up races.

“He’s a really nice Fastnet Rock colt,” Hayes said.

“He’s always shown really good ability.

“He was good in a trial at Cranbourne in November but was just a bit immature so we gave him time.

“He’s come back really nicely.

“It will be interesting to see how he stacks up but at home he’s got lots of ability.”

The colts and geldings Preview has 17 nominations while the Group Three Preview for fillies has 35 entries including three from the Lindsay Park stable.

Biscara, who finished second in both the Debutant Stakes and Inglis Banner in her two spring starts, is set to resume while stablemate Andrassy Avenue is scheduled to make her debut.

Lankan Star is likely to run at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

“Biscara has improved,” Hayes said.

“She has really matured since the spring.

“She a real speedy filly. She puts herself on the pace and she’s pretty straight-forward.

“Her trial at Flemington was very good and I think she can be competitive.”

Andrassy Avenue, who like Biscara is a daughter of first season sire Rubick, won a trial at Wodonga early in the season and has had two Flemington jump-outs this month, winning one last Friday.

“She’s a nice filly who has trialled well at Flemington and shown good speed,” Hayes said.

“We’re throwing her in the deep end but we’re not scared to have a crack at it.”
