Canberra Acton
$100 Win Our Finvarra R8 (Tote)
Canberra Acton Overview:
Think this son of Krupt is a good thing in the last at Canberra, for the first meeting of the year on the Acton track. This bloke comes here a month between runs after racing over 1000m on the turf track when presented before the turn under Matty Cahill and he was there to be run down but just kept finding and on the line was holding his rivals. Has run well on a previous version of the Acton track back to 2017, but being trained here, would assume he’s had a look or two on the current version. Looks good early pressure here, so hoping Cahill can tuck in behind it and have last look.

Swan Hill Overview:
Nathan Hobson is no stranger to success at Swan Hill, especially during the Cup Carnival, and he does look to have several strong chances across the three days, including Soweto Haze, who is on debut. Tatura trial in mid April was solid enough but the blinkers went on and he had a jumpout at Bendigo a few weeks back and loved the way he went. Sat just off the speed in the small field before getting clear air between runners late and going through his gears really nicely under no pressure, with the blinkers really sharpening him up it seemed. Baster can punch him out and go forward I reckon and while 1200m on debut is never easy, I don’t think this is the strongest juvenile contest I’ve seen. Labuan Star seems to be enjoying life under Daniel Bowman. Good first up run at Bendigo behind Redcore before going to the Warrnambool Carnival where he was a drifter in betting but after sitting on speed, he fought hard and proved too good. Has since jumped out at Avoca on May 20 and looked very good in leading throughout. Just hope the 1200m isn’t a stretch for him, but there is decent odds on offer to find out.
