At three he was a neck second to the Champion 3yo Filly Sunlight in the Coolmore Stud Stakes 1200m, a neck to The Autumn Sun in the Golden Rose Stakes 1400m, and second in the Zeditave Stakes 1200m.
In now being the only horse to win the Golden Rose – Coolmore Stud Stakes double, it was his sire Zoustar who sired all three placegetters of the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
As being Champion First Season, Second Season Sire and Third Season Sire, Zoustar has a healthy 60% winners ratio, with 13 stakes winners and progeny earnings of over $25million.
In addition to champion filly Sunlight winning the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Newmarket Handicap, and William Reid Stakes, Zoustar is also the sire of nine additional Group winners including Zousain.
Zousain is from the US Gr3 winner Pasar Silbano, by the Champion British Sprinter Elnadim, who is a full-sister to stakes winner Come To Heel and half-sister to stakes winner Gerfalcon.
Tracing to the Goodwood Stewards Cup winning fourth dam Repetitious, this is the family of Champion British Older Miler Indian Lodge, sires Sarhood and Sifting Gold plus Buy Or Sell and Artwork Genie.
Zousain’s champion sire Zoustar has certainly made his mark in Australian as ‘reigning Champion Australian First, Second and Third Season Sire and reigning Champion Australian Sire of 4YOs.’
In ‘siring a phenomenal Group 1 trifecta in the Coolmore Stud Stakes of 1200m at Flemingtion, he averaged over $325,000 at the Inglis 2019 Easter Yearlings with his top-lot fetching $1,000,000+.’

These are the feelings of a very proud Widden Stud who also state that Zoustar is the ‘only horse to win the Group 1 Golden Rose-Coolmore Stud Stakes double.’
As Leading Third Crop Sire for 2019-20, Zoustar had Sunlight win the Gilgai Stakes and twice Gr1 and Golden Eagle placed. Sunlight later sold for a record $4.2m at the MM National Broodmare Sale.
In addition, he has six stakes winners from 99 winners and 200 starters and earnings of $11.9m, plus additional group and listed winners Haut Brion Her, Mizzy, Zoutori, Madam Rouge and Sisstar.
As Leading Sire of 4YOs, Zoustar has 48 winners from 80 runners and 6 stakes winners with $7.88m in stakes, and also sits seventh on the Australian Champion Sires listings.
At this year’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale his full-brother to champion Sunlight sold for $1.1m to Team Hawkes, and last year his Acouplamas colt made $1,075,000 with his Madamesta colt selling for $1 million. In 2017 his Listen Here filly sold for $1m to Bruce Perry Bloodstock.
Sunlight became Champion Australian 3YO Filly in 2018-19 in winning the Newmarket Handicap, Coolmore Stud Stakes and William Reid Stakes, with Zoustar’s additional black type winners being Lean Mean Machine, Charge, Sun City, Zoustyle, Persuader and Sun Knight in Singapore.
Sunlight and Lean Mean Machine, in winning the Run to The Rose, were Zoustar’s chief performers as Champion Sire of 3YOs in 2018-19, with his 59 winners earning $6.79m in stakes.
Also, as Champion Second Crop Sire in 2018-19 Zoustar had 64 winners, 6 stakes winner and produce earnings of $7.64m, with Sunlight winning $2,196,500 in stakes.
As Champion First Season Sire Sunlight won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Zousain the Champagne Classic. Zouster finished a close third to Snitzel as Champion 2YO Sire with Estijaab being his Golden Slipper Stakes winner.
