Leading trainer Tony Gollan believes the horses for courses theory applies to Seeingisbelieving.

At his second start since joining Gollan’s stables, Seeingisbelieving ticked the Eagle Farm box when successful on September 23.

“When you come to Eagle Farm you want horses that have run well there beforehand,” Gollan said.

“I was confident he would handle this venue because he’s won at Newcastle, which is a sand profile track similar to Eagle Farm.”

Seeingisbelieving is stepping up from the mile to 1800 metres on Saturday which Gollan believes will be to his advantage.

“I think the step up in trip is a huge plus,” he said.

“The horse is thriving in the stable, he looks great, and he’s fit and healthy.”

Seeingisbelieving will be ridden in the Lester Grimmett Retirement Handicap by Ryan Maloney, who will be seeking redemption aboard stablemate Mass Destruction in the Tingo Tango Handicap (1400m).

Maloney blamed himself when Mass Destruction was runner-up at the Gold Coast on September 19.

“The other day I wanted to leave him alone early where he was happy but it backfired on me,” Maloney said.

“The thing in front of me let the winner get away with murder in front then it came back in our lap and I had to go back to the inside then come back out again.

“Take that interference away and he probably turns the tables. Nonetheless, it was a very good run.”

While Maloney has formed a lethal combination with David Vandyke in Queensland this season, his association with Gollan in recent months is also gaining strength.

From only 26 rides, Maloney has won 12 times for Vandyke and has eight winners from the same amount of opportunities for Gollan.

Maloney is a runaway leader on the Brisbane jockeys’ premiership with 25 wins, 12 ahead of nearest rival Jim Byrne.
