Nine races will be run and won at Flemington on Saturday where it is Chester Manifold Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (14:05) Summer Twilight Series Plate 1000m
4 Chameleon Choice (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS) looks a real speed demon so can understand why Matty Smith has sent him to this race given the straight course looks ideal for a horse with his speed. He has had two trials this prep to get ready, winning the first trial before trialling on Monday at Rosehill where he led and was run down by who is my early Golden Slipper pick in Remarque, so think the trial form reads very well.
12 Telluride (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) is a very interesting runner. James Cummings trained first starter that has had two trials in Sydney to prepare. Went pretty poor in the Canterbury but found firmer footing with the Polytrack at Warwick Farm, was ridden cold, and she just looked a different horse. Looked outstanding. Keen to see how she goes.
7 Strike Eagle (Bet Now: $6.50 TOP ODDS) looks the pick of the Victorians. Debuts for the McEvoy camp after closing off strongly to win his latest jumpout here. What I liked is that when he was asked for an effort, he responded and showed good change up speed. Stable is flying and Lane is one of the form riders in Victoria at the moment.
Race 2. (14:40) The Mumm Royale (bm70) 1400m
This looks a winnable race for 3 Still Be Friends (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS), who has found winning form after the stable sent him back to the midweeks at Werribee for a kill and he got it, winning by a space and was dominant. Has run well at Saturday metro level prior and do feel he comes through the right form races.
All you can do is win and that is what 1 Zac De Boss (Bet Now: $2.35 TOP ODDS) has done in both career outings. Debuted with a win at Warrnambool before racing last Saturday at Caulfield where he was near the speed after doing work to get across. Was entitled to drop away but he gave a really good kick when asked and was strong late in winning. Just a query with the back up.
Up to 1400m I find interesting with 5 Hickok (Bet Now: $9.50 TOP ODDS). Went too keen here fresh down the straight behind Written Miss before going back to 1100m at Caulfield last Saturday where he was run off his legs early but picked up and was good late behind Dickin Medal. They did walk home there relative to the meeting, but entitled to given the early burn. Like him up to 1400m.
Race 3. (15:20) Furphy Crisp Lager (bm70) 1600m
4 White Hibiscus (Bet Now: $1.80 TOP ODDS) can continue her winning ways. Danny O’Brien trained former Kiwi mare that has had a couple of runs in Australia and has looked pretty sharp each time she has stepped out. First up kept chasing when second to Witchfulthinking before racing at Sandown again where she sat off a decent clip before edging into clear air and away she went. She was dominant and has more to come I feel.
3 Part Time Lover (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) is racing as if the mile will be okay for her. Loved the way she knuckled down to win over 1400m at Sandown, getting splits between runners and showing good change up speed to win. Her confidence is up and off that effort, the way she ran to the line, think 1600m here will be okay for her.
Up to the mile looks a tick for 6 Tea Tales (Bet Now: $21.00 TOP ODDS). Was on her when she raced last Thursday over 1400m at Warrnambool, her second run at the trip. Loomed to win on the turn but just couldn’t quite finish it off. Four time winner at the trip and has upside to come, so think she can run a much improved race.
Race 4. (16:00) Grinders Coffee Trophy (bm64) 1600m
1 Saccharo (Bet Now: $3.60 TOP ODDS) has come back in really good order for Archie Alexander and up to the mile I do like for him. He ran over 1400m here three weeks ago and worked home strongly from off the speed behind Sebarate in a race which went well relative to the meeting. He’s got upside to come and out to 1600m, he appeals big time.
2 Westbrook Park (Bet Now: $6.50 TOP ODDS) has been given a five week freshen up since racing on Pakenham Cup Day over the mile where she was wide no cover for the trip and couldn’t sustain the run in the end, finishing down the track. He’s better than that, like the break between runs and overall, this race is thin.
10 Annunciate (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) can sit near the speed and give a sight. They rode him with more intent at the Valley last time and he ran a much improved race when second to a potential Saturday class horse in Loveplanet. Think if they ride him positively here, he could sneak a first four spot.
Race 5. (16:40) Tab Long May We Play (bm70) 1100m
See no reason why 2 Zoushine (Bet Now: $4.60) can’t win again. Was wide no cover last start at Caulfield but thought it was a good ride from Will Price. He didn’t bustle the filly to find a spot. Kept her in a good rhythm and despite sitting wide, she showed good change up speed and the race rated very well for the day. She can make it three on the bounce.
Don’t think there was any fluke about the arrogant win of 4 Malicorne (Bet Now: $6.50) at the Valley fresh. Led throughout and she gave them a proper spanking in leading from start to finish, beating home a filly I have time for, Real Feeling. Stable is having a good run at the moment and this girl can continue her winning ways.
8 Real Feeling (Bet Now: $9.00) deserves another chance. Warren/Krongold trained filly that resumed with an electric maiden win at Wodonga before going to the Valley where she was heavily backed and I thought had every chance to beat Malicorne, but that filly was too sharp from the front. Olly takes over, draws wide, so should get good cover and get towards the outside and launch late.
Race 6. (17:20) Lexus Hcp 2000m
Gee I think 3 Mosh Music (Bet Now: $4.00) is a bet here. Archie Alexander trained mare that was second up in the Lord Stakes and in a race shape that was totally against her, I thought she was the run of the meeting in defeat behind Defibrillate, where the raced produced the best last 400m and last 200m of the meeting. 2000m on the big track, close to hard fitness now…I think she only runs well.
1 Pacodali (Bet Now: $14.00) interests me. Was on the seven day back up two back in the Ballarat Cup and on the turn looked the winner before tiring late. Freshened up and went to the Lord Stakes when far from disgraced with the 62kg, beaten three lengths. Gets really good weight relief after the claim and up to 2000m is ideal. He is good value I feel.
Not sure I could back 10 Sentimentalist (Bet Now: $34.00) to win but he is one for wider multiples. He ran over 2000m at Caulfield two weeks back and on paper, it was just a run, but it was a sneaky good run from him because he was nearer the inside and come that race, the inside wasn’t the spot to be. His late splits were quite good, so think he’s a knockout chance.
Race 7. (18:00) Chester Manifold Stakes 1400m
7 Riding The Wave (Bet Now: $2.00) finds a very winnable Stakes race here. Lindsey Smith has him flying. On the quick back up after racing last Friday here where he controlled things from the front and really zipped home, producing some of the better late splits of the meeting. Like him up to 1400m and I actually think he’s better with a sit, so will be interesting to see what tactics they use.
The key to 2 Brave Song (Bet Now: $7.50) is dry and hopefully that will be the case for his fans. Comes through the Christmas Stakes which rated through the roof and he closed off strongly to run second to Pandemic. Does tend to save his best for 1200m but off that effort, think 1400m from the inside gate will be fine.
Good test here for 8 Never Again (Bet Now: $8.50) but he comes here as a last start winner. That win came over 1400m at Caulfield two weeks ago in what was a fast run race, so that helps his cause for this despite that race, they came home just fair relative to the day. Start prior, far from disgraced behind Sirius Suspect, which reads well for here.
Race 8. (18:35) Seppelt Salinger (bm70) 1800m
10 Garimpiero (Bet Now: $4.20) for me. Lindsey Smith trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after racing over 1400m last Saturday at Caulfield, his second run at the trip from as many races this prep. Got back but worked home very strongly late in what was a solid rating race for the day. Has run well on the back up before and 1800m looks ideal.
13 Tycoon Bec (Bet Now: $4.80) is a promising animal for Matt Cumani so keen to see how she goes against these. 2/2 to start her career, the latest coming over the mile at the Valley. Not sure she was entirely happy on the tight track but class got her home and she was too good. Harder here, but all you can do is win and you don’t know how good they are til they are beaten.
The Ellerton/Zahra camp have 4 High’N’Dry (Bet Now: $7.00) flying. Really caught the eye first up at Sandown as a $41, and most found him given next start he had a $3.50 SP and sitting off a fast speed, he was strong late in winning. Harder here, but does no work from the gate and up to 1800m I do like.
Race 9. (19:05) Kennedy (bm70) 1100m
4 China Affair (Bet Now: $5.50) looks to be in for a really good prep. Resumed over 1000m at Flemington a few weeks ago when off the speed and making ground late, but clearly no match for impressive winner Sword Of Mercy. That race rated very well for the meeting, and think it’ll be a good form race, so he’s hard to beat.
7 Spirit Of Aquada (Bet Now: $11.00) has come back very well I feel. Jumped out like a jet prior to resuming over 1100m at Caulfield and not sure he would have won, but clearly should have been in the finish behind Hidden Legend. He does generally run well second up and if the breaks go his way, he can take this out.
6 Messerschmitt (Bet Now: $18.00) has the engine under the hood to give this a shake. Ran over 1200m down the straight at Flemington a few weeks ago where he was back near last in the run and never really threatened, but did make up ground late and was more than sound in defeat. Fast run 1100m looks ideal and his best is good enough.
