8/5/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Eurythmic Stakes day

Nine races will be run and won at Ascot on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Small but select field to kick off the meeting. I’ve landed with 2 Notorious One (Bet Now: $6.50). I was disappointed with his last start effort behind Tinsnip two weeks ago but I see some tinkering with head gear, hopefully to sharpen him up, and his best effort did come on wet ground, so I’ll give him another chance.

5 No Apology (Bet Now: $4.20) just about looks ready to win. He ran second in that Tinsnip race from two weeks ago mentioned above. Sat off the speed and looked large to win. Just couldn’t quite get there but was still game in defeat when second. He’s knocking on the door and gets his chance.

Doubt he will be a long shot as such but third pick is 3 Beret (Bet Now: $3.50) for Adam Durrant. Ran last Saturday over 1800m and worked home with real purpose late in the piece, just missing out on the win when second to Karanis. Interesting she’s back in trip but overall, is racing well.

1400m is not the A1 trip for 2 Born To Try (Bet Now: $2.10), but she just looks better than these. Resumes for Lindsey Smith, having not raced since March 6 on that standalone Bunbury meeting when game in defeat behind a handy filly, Reliable Star. Resumes without a trial but just looks to have more scope than this lot.

Interesting that 1 Fiery Water (Bet Now: $4.20) backs up from last Saturday. He was pretty ordinary I thought behind Prized Nemesis but was found to be lame post race, so there were excuses. His best can see him be dangerous.

8 Stella Anne (Bet Now: $15.00) has such an awful winning strike rate, but is honest and usually is around the mark. Ran on Sunday at Northam where she had a suck run behind the speed and battled on okay when third. Couldn’t back her to win, but a must for multiples.

2 Flying Missile (Bet Now: $1.70) is a quality filly for Neville Parnham that was far from disgraced in the Karrakatta. Freshened, came back to this level and her class got her home in a race that rated okay relative to the meeting. Only has to hold her form to be around the mark.

4 Written Exceed (Bet Now: $8.50) looks to have his share of talent for Trevor Andrews. Debuted over 1100m here where he led throughout under Pike and he spanked them, winning nicely. But, the time was plain, so in that regard, he needs to improve, but no reason to suggest he won’t improve.

8 Wise Words (Bet Now: $51.00) is a Team Pearce trained filly that resumes. This girl had a two run prep towards the end of last year where they were more or less education runs. Given a good break for her second prep and thought her Lark Hill trial win was strong enough.

I’m with 2 First Law (Bet Now: $4.20) in what looks a two horse race. This guy resumed here at the midweeks when sitting off a moderate speed. Tried hard but those near the front had it too easy. Blinkers back on, better for the run and does have a touch of class about him.

The class runner of the field is clearly 1 Chantorque (Bet Now: $4.50). Quality filly that resumed over 1000m here three weeks ago where she paraded like she would need the run and that’s how it panned out. Bit one paced but closed off strongly. Better for the run, I think her class will carry her a long way.

1400m back to 1200m I find interesting with 3 Phanta (Bet Now: $4.80) but I think he has returned well. That 1400m run was a first up effort here two weeks ago when on speed and fighting. Just couldn’t quite get the job done. Like him as a horse. Not sure he wins. But a place chance.

1 Panzdown (Bet Now: $2.90) looks to pick himself here. Quality three year old for Simon Miller that is 2/2 to start the prep, the latest win coming here two weeks ago when sitting off the speed and unleashing a powerful finishing burst. No reason why he can’t keep winning.

No surprise that 3 City Circle (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up. You could say she ran last Saturday, but pretty much, it was a barrier trial. She had plenty to offer but just had no luck. Hard to beat with clear air.

7 Forest War (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Jim Taylor trained gelding that ran here last Wednesday at this trip. He was chasing from the outset but wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought behind Highland Beat. Harder here, but one for exotics.

9 Angelic Miss (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Simon Miller trained mare that is four weeks between runs since resuming here where she got back off the speed but trucked up and presented to win on the turn. Just no match for an in form Glasgow Girl. She’ll take good improvement off that and is hard to beat against these.

6 Glasgow Girl (Bet Now: $8.50) is flying at the moment. She hasn’t raced since leading throughout to win that race mentioned above. She was there to be run down but found plenty when required and was too good. Harder here and drawn wide, but hard to knock the way she is going at the moment.

2 Chix Pic (Bet Now: $16.00) should welcome the drop in depth/grade. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when back off the speed and tried hard. Just lacked the class behind Miss Conteki. No horse of that quality here and I think she just has to hold her form to be around the mark.

4 Marocchino (Bet Now: $2.60) does look the obvious threat. He is absolutely flying at the moment for the Luciani camp, winning three on the bounce. Latest win did come in the Diggers Cup where Pike rode a peach and in a struggle, he was able to get the job done. Creeping up in the weights, but he’s flying and has to be respected.

1 Come Play With Me (Bet Now: $2.50) might need one more, but he has class and is suited up in trip. Resumed in the Diggers Cup where he had a suck run behind the speed and for a few strides, looked the winner. Just think his condition gave was late. He usually runs flat second up, and has a third up bounce back, so rather watch than back, but a must for multiples.

8 Final Chill (Bet Now: $7.50) is third pick, but a distant third pick. Ran in a Jericho Cup Qualifier at Albany. I thought he had his chance but he battled on pretty well I thought in defeat. Expect a mid race move aboard thus guy and turning this into a proper staying contest given how race fit he is.

Was with 8 Sluice Box (Bet Now: $10.00) last Saturday and won’t be dropping off here. That run came over 1400m here where he had little to no luck at all, and seemingly had plenty in hand, closing off hard late when eventually clear. Fitter and up to the mile, drawn out, he’ll get clear air and launch late.

3 Magic Will Reign (Bet Now: $6.00) should appreciate the rise to the mile. He resumed over 1400m two weeks ago here and was a real eye catcher from the back in a good resumption when a close up fifth to Creator. I think the Durrant camp has him flying and is a leading contender here.

6 Eurasia (Bet Now: $9.00) is a model of consistency who is rarely far away from the action. Ran over the mile here a fortnight back where he had a suck run near the speed and battled on gamely as he always does when third to Tinsnip. That form does read well for a race like this and McGruddy is back on.

4 Tinsnip (Bet Now: $6.00) for me in the get out. Adam Durrant has this guy getting back towards his 2YO form, where he was a Stakes class horse. Lovely ride from Pike saw him win here two weeks ago, holding off a late challenge from No Apology. Should get a lovely run once again and only run well.

I think the Gangemi team would love the track to dry out for 5 Creator (Bet Now: $6.50). He is flying this guy and the stable has him in just about career best form. Led throughout to win over 1400m here two weeks back, fending them off from the front in a gutsy effort. Harder here, but he’ll give a sight from near the speed.

Not an overly strong 72+ here. Giving respect to 6 War God (Bet Now: $23.00) for Neville Parnham. I think the rise to 1500m suits. He ran over 1400m here two weeks ago and worked home with purpose late when fourth to the in form Creator. Think he is racing well and is a definite winning chance here.

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 4 Marocchino

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 8 Sluice Box
