31/7/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont

A strong nine race program has been set down for Belmont this Saturday where the feature race is the National Jockey Celebration Day Sprint (1000m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

I just have to butter up with 3 Zaratite (Bet Now: $1.75). Made him the best last Saturday and if you were on, like most was, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. He should have won. Just had no luck in the straight. Drawn out, surely he gets clear air and he should be winning.

4 Lonsdale Lady (Bet Now: $6.00) is a talented mare that should appreciate the rise in trip. Ran over the mile here three weeks ago and in a slog, finished best, beating Zaratite, so the form reads well and she will be suited up to 2000m, so she is the key threat to to the Williams runner.

1 Bella’s Idol (Bet Now: $31.00) is the gelding with class on his side. Five weeks between runs since contesting the Strickland where he found the class a bit rich but was far from disgraced. Tick over trial was a nice piece of work and he does have the class to be around the mark.

1 Ohbeeh (Bet Now: $2.80) is hard fit, in form and has the right racing pattern, so he goes on top. Ran over 1400m here last Saturday when attempting to lead throughout and gave a great kick, only to be nabbed on the peg by Mr Mt Walker. Back to 1200m, he will likely lead and give a tremendous sight.

2 Bedouin Belle (Bet Now: $4.60) should love the rise to 1200m. Ran over 1000m here two weeks ago when behind the speed and chased strongly. Just couldn’t quite get past a noted swimmer, Express Time. Up to 1200m and fitter, she will take some holding out.

Not sure 7 I’m Icey (Bet Now: $41.00) wins but for wider multiples, I could entertain. Ran last Wednesday here when on speed and feeling the pinch late behind Zephyr Queen, a problem Saturday performer, so think that form reads okay for a race like this.

4 Searchin’ Roc’s (Bet Now: $2.60) is a very much progressive filly for David Harrison that can win again. Loved the way she won here three weeks ago over 1400m. Once the button was pushed, away she went and she was strong. If this becomes a testing 1300m, she will take a power of beating.

9 Fine Romance (Bet Now: $4.60) is a Team a Williams filly for Bob Peters that is on debut. This girl has really looked the part in a couple of trials and the the stable don’t usually produce a juvenile in town for start one unless they’re pretty good, so a definite market watch.

5 Success Play (Bet Now: $13.00) is a son of Playing God for Neville Parnham that resumes. Hasn’t raced since the WA Magic Millions at Pinjarra when outclassed but far from disgraced. Trialled well leading in and I think noteworthy that Chris Parnham is booked to steer, perhaps a lead.

Second up syndrome is the only knock with 5 Picture Perfect (Bet Now: $3.90). If that’s not an issue, he just wins. Team Williams trained gelding that resumed over 1400m here. Had no luck in the straight and should have won with clear air. Normal luck this time around and he wins.

3 The Spruiker (Bet Now: $2.40) is absolutely flying at the moment for Steve Wolfe and has to be hard to beat. He won the race most of these contested two weeks ago over 1400m, sitting on speed and fighting hard when challenged to fend them off and get the job done. Creeping up in the weights, but just so genuine.

6 Cambist (Bet Now: $12.00) comes through The Spruiker race from two weeks back. She resumed and paraded like she would need the run. That is how it panned out but she was far from disgraced. Fitter and up in trip, she has the class to finish around the mark here.

1 Indian Pacific (Bet Now: $2.10) has to lump the 62kg but the reason for that is that he has lengths on these re class and that should carry him. He had a very good prep in the Autumn in Melbourne in some high quality races. He went like a jet in a recent trial and only bad luck beats him.

6 Jericho Missile (Bet Now: $9.50) is a month between runs since racing over this track/distance when back off the speed and chased well behind Amasenus, who won the Bolton Sprint last Saturday, so the form reads well and has race fitness.

3 Mervyn (Bet Now: $10.00) would love a firmer deck and I think he’ll get it compared to the Beaufine. He was resuming there and led, but just couldn’t sustain it on the testing ground. If he gets firmer footing, fitter, he’ll give a bold sight at a decent price I’d suggest.

Back to 1000m I find interesting with 2 First Law (Bet Now: $5.50) but I do feel it will be a positive. Ran over 1200m here last Wednesday when near the speed throughout and tried hard, but couldn’t get past Zephyr Queen. Back to 1000m, he’s hard fit and will be strong at the end.

1 Express Time (Bet Now: $3.50) is flying for Neville Parnham and is hard to beat here I’d suggest. Sustained speed from the front saw her win here two weeks ago at the trip. Has a tricky draw, but does possess the early speed to overcome that and look the winner.

6 Strathmore Rose (Bet Now: $3.70) is a very interesting runner. Roy Rogers trained filly that has been kept on ice since winning on wet ground at Albany. Comes straight to town but I think a good lead is that Chris Parnham rides.

7 Miss Vasari (Bet Now: $2.00) steps up in class, but the depth isn’t overly strong, so she goes on top. Resumed last Wednesday here where she sat off the speed under Parnham before peeking into clear air and letting down strongly to get the job done. Got more upside than most and will take beating.

2 Downforce (Bet Now: $10.00) is a son of Snippetson for Neville Parnham that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since April 10 at Ascot where he ran a game fourth to a talented animal in Creator. He won’t mind some give in the track and looks to have trialled well leading in.

1 Guns Of Navarone (Bet Now: $17.00) is a stablemate of Downforce that is getting on in years but is still racing in some solid form. Far from disgraced over 1000m here two weeks ago. The rise to 1200m should suit him and he does bring the class factor against some of these.

6 Sketta (Bet Now: $2.40) looks the one to beat. Fred Kersley trained filly that was a few weeks between runs when racing over 1000m here and closed off her race very strongly, producing some of the better late splits of the race. Fitter and up in trip with Pike steering, she’ll do me.

2 Our Danni (Bet Now: $5.50) is yet to prove herself at 1200m but off the resumption, she should handle it fine. Resumed over 1000m here two weeks ago and closed off with real purpose in an encouraging return. With improvement to come, you’d like to think the extra furlong will be okay.

5 Gunmetal Grey (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Ross Price trained three year old that is second up here and should have upside to come. Resumed at this track/distance where he was near the speed throughout but given he was fresh on wet ground, condition just gave way. Knockout chance with that run under the belt.

10 Stylax (Bet Now: $7.00) is a lightly raced three year old for Fred Kersley who should eat up the rise in trip. Ran over 1200m at Pinjarra last time out when back in the run but finished off strongly, looking like a horse that wants more ground and that is what he gets here so he’s on top despite the class rise but it be fair, the depth isn’t overly strong.

8 Devoted Star (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Team Williams trained mare that can be hard to follow and trust with confidence, but her best will see her go close. Ran over 1200m here two weeks back and worked home okay without really threatening. Fitter and up to 1400m with Pike, she gets a chance to win.

3 Convicted Man (Bet Now: $18.00) was several weeks between runs when racing over 1200m here and I thought he worked home strongly in a good effort behind Special View. Like him up in trip. Just needs luck from a tricky draw.

BEST BET: Race One Number 3 Zaratite

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 1 Indian Pacific

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 10 Stylax
