20/11/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Railway Stakes day

The best raceday WA has to offer is Railway Stakes Day and the 2021 edition rolls around this Saturday at Ascot with ten races set down. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

1 Pure Devotion (Bet Now: $1.80) has to carry 60kg so it won’t be an easy task for her but she gets the big jockey upgrade, she’s hard fit and in winning form. Jett Stanley did ride a peach on the mare two weeks ago, taking out the Apprentices Cup. Creeping up in the weights, but she could be a Perth Cup contender, so happy to be with her.

3 Reliable Star (Bet Now: $3.10) has the same colours as Pure Devotion and is racing in good form herself. Was on her back to beat Pure Devotion in the race mentioned above and she tried hard, but couldn’t hold out late. Gets the weight pull and has room for improvement.

If there is a sleeper here, it is 2 Black Shadow (Bet Now: $6.00). He ran over 1500m here last time out where he was run off his legs early but picked up late and I thought he was really good in defeat given he was at a trip clearly short of his best. Up to a more suitable trip, he’s in with a shout.

6 Revitup (Bet Now: $2.70) for me. This filly debuted four weeks ago over 1000m here and she was a professional, sitting on speed throughout, giving a good kick and proving too strong. Has been kept on ice with this race in mind and overall, this looks a thin race, so happy to be with her.

3 All The King’s Men (Bet Now: $26.00) is a son of King’s Troop for Trevor Andrews that is on debut. This guy has had two trials to get ready for start one, the latest coming just under four weeks ago at Belmont when fourth but looked to go about his business nicely. The break from the latest trial to here is interesting so I’d watch the market.

8 Vamplat Play (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Playing God filly for Neville Parnham having her first start. She has three trials under the belt to get ready, the latest being last week when second in what was a decent piece of work to the eye. Stable have a good record with their juveniles so she commands respect.

I’m pretty keen here on 1 Brave Angel (Bet Now: $4.00) for Simon Miller. She showed good quality as a filly last prep but this time around, she has raced a bit dour like she wants a trip, and she gets that here. Ran over the mile three weeks ago and closed off strongly late when third to Playing Marika. Up to 1800m, like her here and is one of the better bets on the card.

4 Conquered Zone (Bet Now: $8.00) is third up from a break and up to 1800m looks ideal. Ran over the mile here a fortnight back. Just lacked a turn of foot when the sprint went on but picked up and was good late when third to Big Screen. Racing like the 1800m will suit and has more upside than most.

12 Night Session (Bet Now: $20.00) deserves a crack at Saturday level. He toughed it out really strongly to win at this track/distance last Wednesday. Left in front a fair way out and was there to be run but he found under pressure, kicked and clung on. Not sure he can win, but a first four threat.

Back up to the mile, I’m in the corner of 2 Ginger Flyer (Bet Now: $7.00). She ran last Saturday over 1400m here when on speed and tried hard, but couldn’t reel in Beret, who was ridden a treat and proved too good. Gets to her more preferred trip, hard fit, in form, she’ll do me.

5 Big Screen (Bet Now: $4.80) is racing in career best form at the moment and is hard to beat. Strong all the way win at this track/distance two weeks ago. Super ride in front and that proved the difference. Bit more depth to this line up but hard to knock the way he’s going.

8 Castillo Del Lago (Bet Now: $9.50) deserves another chance. Impressive win two back before racing in the Big Screen. Sat outside that horse on speed but was one of the first off the bit and really struggled to pick up, finishing down the track. Has credits in the bank, so he deserves another chanced.

Back to 1200m looks a big tick for 10 Real Danger (Bet Now: $8.50). Strong win over 1000m two back. Then went to 1400m in the Burgess Queen and just found the quick rise a bridge too far but far from disgraced in defeat. Back to 1200m, Pike back on, she can bounce back.

11 Sparkling Blue (Bet Now: $6.00) is a talented animal for Adam Durrant that had good market support when resuming here on Cup Day and under a lovely steer from CJP, she drove through hard nearer the inside and finished best to win and win well. Fitter and up in trip, she appeals.

3 Liwa (Bet Now: $9.00) can be a big improver back in trip. Reckon they rode her upside down in the Burgess Queen and it clearly backfired as she turned badly over the latter stages. She seems more effective when ridden with a sit and showing change up speed, which she can do here from the soft gate.

This looks the right level for 3 Watch Me Dance (Bet Now: $14.00). Was tried as a potential Railway contender but her lead up runs suggested she’s just not quite up to that level. This is more her go and from the soft gate, I think she can run a much improved race.

11 Son Of A God (Bet Now: $3.70) is on the seven day back for Simon Miller after racing last Saturday over 1200m here. Had to chase a strong speed and that burn just told on him late when third to Wilchino, who looks a potential Stakes class horse. Fitter and up to 1400m, he appeals.

4 Dom To Shoot (Bet Now: $9.50) was looking to force his way into the Railway but it’s come up too soon and instead runs here, with eyes towards the Kingston Town. The Mornington Guineas winner resumed two weeks back and was pretty plain I thought behind Comfort Me. Not sure I could back him to win off that, but his best can see him sneak a first four spot.

13 Treasured Star (Bet Now: $2.60) does look to be the 3YO horse for Bob Peters for the Kingston Town. She could have run in the WA Champion Fillies last Saturday but has been kept on ice for this and the Kingston Town. She was desperately unlucky in the Burgess Queen and could easily make a case to say she wins with a clear run. Rub of the green here and I think she’ll be too good.

The key to 2 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $4.00) and running a strong mile was getting a soft run in transit and from gate one, he will indeed get that. Had the suck run in transit last start in the Fairetha and dashed quickly, holding a safe margin on the line. He’s the pick of the boys and is hard to beat.

7 Devoted (Bet Now: $20.00) is in with a shout. Stablemate of Treasured Star who ran in the Fairetha. He lost sight of the bunny and spotted them way too much head start but loved the way he found the line. He can sit much closer in the run from the draw and a win wouldn’t totally shock.

It’s hard getting away from 16 Western Empire (Bet Now: $1.55). There was a lot of class/quality about his first up win in the Asian Beau three weeks ago, charging clear late to win with a fair amount of dominance and arrogance. He has the right weight, right colours and right jockey for the race. He’s the one to beat.

10 Kissonallforcheeks (Bet Now: $9.00) is a little query at the mile but she was a sharp winner last Saturday in the R J Peters to get her way into the field. Loved the way she dug in between runners when she needed to and proved strongest on the line. Off that 1500m run, the mile here should be okay and gets Chris Parnham.

The each way bet for me in this race is clearly 12 Notorious One (Bet Now: $14.00). He had a seven week freshen up prior to racing in the Asian Beau where he was quite good from off the speed when second to Western Empire. All things being equal, I doubt he turns the tables, but double figures looks more than acceptable.

I’m with 11 Angelic Miss (Bet Now: $4.00). Quality mare for Simon Miller who doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but has a motor, a good motor. Dominant first up win at this track/distance before having the same set up two weeks ago where she got a mile out of her ground but was good late when third to Bright Diamond. Hard to beat if she can sit closer in the run.

9 Bright Diamond (Bet Now: $3.00) has finally got a win on the board and she could go on with it. Was running well without winning but that all changed at this track/distance when given a peach by Pike, and the mare repaid the ride with a strong finale to win. She can measure up here for sure.

For wider multiples, I could entertain 12 Universal Pleasure (Bet Now: $67.00). Probably ridden a tad warm in the Bright Diamond race, which ensured she didn’t have much left for the straight. Ridden cold from the gate, get three wide cover, I can see her sneaking a first four spot.

11 God Has Chosen (Bet Now: $2.80) looks hard to beat for Lindsey Smith. Unlucky run first up before making amends threeweeks ago back over 1400m here, with Pike giving him a sweet ride in transit and the horse duly bolted in. Harder here, but upside to come and in the right camp to keep winning.

1200m is the query with 14 Vadette De Star (Bet Now: $6.00) but she is racing like she wants it. Ran over 1000m here two weeks ago where she got a mile out of her ground but loved the way she closed off when third. Her racing pattern is poor but if she can sit closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

4 Rebel Knight (Bet Now: $27.00) is five weeks between runs and comes back to 1200m. Attempted to lead throughout over the mile last time and gave a mini kick but couldn’t quite finish the job. Back in trip with fresh legs is interesting but he’s honest and can sneak a first four spot.

BEST BET: Race Three Number 1 Brave Angel

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 11 God Has Chosen

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 11 Angelic Miss
