25/4/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Anzac Day races

Anzac Day racing in Sydney heads to the Kensington track at Randwick for eight races. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (9) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

8 Headliner (Bet Now: $2.00) has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but isn’t far away. Ran over 1300m at Warwick Farm last time out and she ran well, but bumped into a pretty good one I suspect in Waterford. Like her back to 1100m, and despite drawing wide, should get good cover and launch late.

10 Valentina Express (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Team Hawkes trained filly that is on debut. She comes into this off the back of just one trial this time in, winning a 740m trial on the Poly at Warwick Farm where she looked to move quite well. Interesting to see what the market does with her.

9 Tempestas (Bet Now: $7.50) is in a similar boat to Headliner. Handy horse that is a good money spinner for connections but finds it hard to win. He raced on a bottomless Wyong track last start and struggled in the conditions. Track should be firmer this time around, hard fit and prior efforts were sound.

2 Terrameades (Bet Now: $2.50) on top. Kris Lees trained filly that is looking to make it three on the bounce. Gave them a spanking two back at Taree before going to 1400m at Newcastle where I’m not 100% sure she was happy on the bog track but she was too sharp for them. Good test here, but she’s hard fit, in form and maps pretty well.

3 Bella Rouge (Bet Now: $3.40) is first up here for Chris Waller and commands respect. Ended last prep on a high when winning over 1300m here in a maiden in good style. Like horses that go out on a high and her trials indicate she has come back in good order. One of the leading contenders.

5 Noble Beauty (Bet Now: $8.00) is a daughter of Flying Artie for Team Freedman that resumes. She did a really good job in her first prep, placing in all five career outings. Good test for her fresh against this lot, but couple of trials to get ready and gets in well after the claim for Jones.

5 Hollywood North (Bet Now: $4.00) each way for me here. Chris Waller trained gelding that was Winx-like odds when breaking the maiden tag at Kembla Grange. Not sure he was 100% happy on the bog track but he had a clear class edge on that lot and was strong to the line. Does no work from the gate, hard fit, found form…each way bet for sure.

7 Toesonthenose (Bet Now: $2.45) could be heading to Queensland with a win here. Resumed over 1400m at Hawksebury where she produced sustained speed from the front, giving nothing else a look in, winning comfortably. Should lead these up, get control and take beating.

10 Royal Ballet (Bet Now: $7.50) could put in a sneaky claim for the Queensland Oaks and a trip to Brisbane with a good showing here. Was specked at odds when resuming over 1200m at Newcastle where she got back to near last in the run and liked the way she finished off when fourth. Fitter, up in trip, suspect she’ll be strong at the end and can win if she’s within range.

Bit surprised that 7 Girl Mania (Bet Now: $3.90) isn’t closer to favourite. Resumed at the midweeks at Hawkesbury and loved the way she closed off her race nearer the inside when a close up second to a handy mare, the unbeaten Norwegian Bliss. I think that form reads very well for a race like this and you’re getting $6+.

2 Quiet Riot (Bet Now: $3.30) is hit and miss but when he is on, he’s a handy galloper. Resumed in the feature sprint on Orange Cup Day where sustained speed came to the fore and he was impressive in winning. J Mac has won on him previously, should land on speed and take catching.

1 Stoical (Bet Now: $7.00) is a Team Snowden trained gelding that resumes. He only had one run last time in, which came over this track/distance on Feb 15 when a strong winner in what was a pretty solid 72 race. Can’t find a jumpout/trial for him, so the market will be your guide as to where his fitness levels are at.

6 Thalassophile (Bet Now: $1.75) is racing like she will eat up 1400m. Lapped them two back in a Newcastle Class 1 before racing at the midweeks at Hawkesbury. Had the box seat and tried hard. Just didn’t have the change up speed to beat Calgary Queen. Racing like 1400m suits and is hard to beat.

7 Banana Queen (Bet Now: $7.00) is big odds here I feel. On the quick back up after racing in the James Carr last Saturday where McEvoy rode to the track pattern but unfortunately she couldn’t get clear air and it was a barrier trial behind Espiona. Should get clear air this time around and be strong at the end.

2 Holstein (Bet Now: $19.00) can be an improver. Resumed at the midweeks at Hawkesbury where he got back in the run and failed to fire a shot in a plain return behind Game Theory. Blinkers are on first time to sharpen. Might want one more, but the gear change could spark him into action.

7 Arabolini (Bet Now: $4.50) each way all day for me. Ellen Hennessy rides this horse better than anyone else. She rode the horse a treat when winning two back at Scone. Madi Derick jumped on at Wyong last time and I think she just went too slow on the horse. He was outsprinted but came again. Hennessy jumps on again, should find the front, roll, and down in the weights, he’ll give a mighty sight.

6 Sound Of Cannons (Bet Now: $3.00) has an awful winning strike rate, but he’s a stayer with talent and the small field helps his cause. Didn’t stop chasing last start at Hawkesbury from the back when a closing second to a promising animal, Military Mission. Like him up to 2400m and should be strong late.

10 Galiero (Bet Now: $18.00) could pinch a first four spot at odds. Attempted to lead throughout last start at Nowra and gave a good kick in the straight. Just found one better in Essential Sky with a gap to the rest. I doubt he’s good enough to win, but down in the weights with a soft run on speed, he’s a place hope.

I’ll take a chance on Queensland Derby aspirant 7 Nest Egg (Bet Now: $5.50), who makes his Australian debut for Chris Waller. He hasn’t raced since the NZ Derby where he got back in the run and worked home okay without threatening. Quiet trial to get ready, without Blinkers, but they are back on and stable finds J Mac.

3 Oceanography (Bet Now: $4.00) is a progressive up and comer for the Maher/Eustace camp that put together a couple of sharp wins prior to racing over the mile at Ballarat where he seemingly had his chance but battled away pretty well when third. 1800m should be fine on breeding and in the right camp.

9 Lekvarte (Bet Now: $6.00) is in with a shout. Joe Pride trained filly that was heading down the Oaks path but she let punters down with a pretty plain effort at Doomben on quite testing ground. Kept on ice for potentially a trip away for the Oaks, and liked a recent tick over trial from her.

14 Star Sparks (Bet Now: $4.60) is a WaterBott four year old that resumes. Had a three run prep to start his career, winning the last two, the maiden at Goulburn before a dominant win at Gosford. Trials leading in have been a tad suspect, but in the right camp, and drawn wide, he’ll take his time sliding across.

5 Mach Schnell (Bet Now: $2.50) is a Joe Pride trained former Kiwi having his second run for the new camp. Australian debut came over 1300m at Hawkesbury and I liked the way he finished his race off behind Game Theory when fourth. Fitter, up to 1400m, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

6 So Sneaky (Bet Now: $5.50) is an Amanda Turner trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Feb 5 at Randwick when on speed in a Midway and fought on pretty well when fourth. Looked sharp in a trial win at Warwick Farm last time and at his best, he is certainly dangerous.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 7 Girl Mania

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 7 Arabolini
