Ten races will be run and won at Rosehill this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (11:10) Furphy Hcp 1400m
1 Alberich (Bet Now: $3.40 TOP ODDS) is a really smart juvenile for Chris Waller. There was Hong Kong interest for him prior to his debut at Canterbury and after the debut, you can see why. He made a mess of them, handled the wet track with ease and won with something in reserve. He’s destined for better races than this, so happy to be in his corner.
2 Vinnie’s Spirit (Bet Now: $3.80 TOP ODDS) has the 1400m lead up under the belt and can roll forward, so he has a bit in his corner. That run came at Newcastle where he didn’t beat much, but he led throughout and was impressive. With a good racing style, I think he’ll run a bold race.
3 Flag Of Honour (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) is a well bred gelding for Kris Lees that was the subject of a plunge when debuting on his home track at Newcastle and despite seemingly being out of petrol tickets, class got him home and he was too good. Bred to eat up 1400m, he commands respect.
Race 2. (11:45) Tab Highway Hcp (C2) 1200m
5 Sir Ravanelli (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) can bounce back. Terry Evans trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since contesting a Randwick Highway where I thought Jeff Kehoe rode him a tad warm and it took something away from his finale when fourth to Bootscooter. I reckon with a more conservative steer, you’ll see an improved showing.
11 Shaolin Temple (Bet Now: $34.00) is a Peter Sinclair trained gelding that commands respect. He’s had a few homes throughout his career but is seemingly enjoying life under the care of Sinclair, knuckling down strongly to win at Coonamble last time. That was at 1300m so a tough 1200m here should be no issue.
15 Deni Gal (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) can bounce back on a firmer deck for a trainer who loves Highway races, Terry Robinson. She raced on an absolute bottomless deck here two weeks ago and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Iconic Dame. Back on a track more to her liking, expect improvement.
Race 3. (12:20) Bowermans (Bm72) 1200m
10 Pretty Wild (Bet Now: $3.30 TOP ODDS) looks a filly of some promise. Gave them a spanking on debut at Warwick Farm before racing at Randwick a few weeks ago where she found firmer footing and was quite good from off the speed when a narrow second to Rebel Shadow. Hard to beat in a race like this.
5 Pizarro (Bet Now: $3.80 TOP ODDS) looks to have returned in good order. Just had one soft 740m trial leading into his resumption here a fortnight back where he sat back in the run and closed his race off pretty well late when second to surprise winner Riva Del Sol. Fitter, up to 1200m, he commands respect.
2 Dehorned Unicorn (Bet Now: $6.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to beat for what is becoming a lethal combo in Joe Pride and Glyn Schofield. He looked all over a winner here two weeks back on the bog but was nabbed late. With a soft lead on the cards, he’ll take beating.
Race 4. (12:55) Midway (Bm72) 1200m
10 Bartoselli (Bet Now: $6.50 TOP ODDS) deserves another look for mine for John Thompson. He was a hard short priced favourite when resuming at the midweeks at Canterbury but he failed to fire a shot and was plain. Bowman said post race the horse hated the wet ground, but tongue tie on suggests that might be more of a reason why he failed. Trialled well leading in, good form from last prep, I have to give him another chance.
15 Air Of Alsace (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) looks to be in for a good prep. Jason Coyle trained mare that resumed in a Midway here two weeks ago where she was nearer the inside, which was the spot to be, but she finished her race strongly, looking the winner, but was nabbed late by Monte Ditto. With improvement from that, she’s hard to beat.
17 Air To Air (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is such a fascinating runner. Formerly with Jason Coyle, she now finds herself with Sam Kavanagh and he’s becoming a trustworthy trainer at getting a tried horse to find winning form. Her racing style and record isn’t flash. but new trainer, starting again, her trials leading in have been quite sharp, so she’s a huge yard/market watch.
Race 5. (13:30) Vale Nick Moraitis (Bm88) 1800m
3 Lord Ardmore (Bet Now: $2.90) is the best of three key winning chances IMO. He resumed five weeks ago at Randwick over 1300m and was very good from off the speed when second to impressive winner Coal Crusher. Break between runs and up to 1800m is interesting, but 2/2 at the track, good upside, Bowman on, he’ll do me.
6 Comme Bella Fille (Bet Now: $2.90) is flying this time in for John O’Shea. Put together a couple of sharp wins to start the prep prior to racing three weeks ago at Randwick and I think Reece Jones rode a poor race. He was riding to beat Niffler, and by the time that happened, the race was over, just failing to pick up Nothinsweetaboutme. Flying and can bounce back into the winners list.
1 Franceso Guardi (Bet Now: $3.60) seems to be appreciating racing on the fresh side. He knuckled down strongly to win three weeks back at Randwick, getting a peach steer from Chad Schofield and in a driving go, he finished best, just. He’s in winning form and trained here, he’ll take beating once again.
Race 6. (14:05) Vinery Stallions (Bm78) 1500m
2 Head Of State (Bet Now: $7.00) is a quality three year old for Chris Waller that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Spring Champion when having Cardiac Arrhythmia in a clear forgive behind Profondo. Given a good break and with two trials under the belt, he could well sprint fresh. Watch the market.
8 Lease (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up for the Ryan/Alexiou camp after racing last Saturday at Randwick. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but was no match late for a very impressive Kanazawa. Hard fit, soft lead potentially, he’ll run a bold race.
4 Lovely Esteem (Bet Now: $13.00) is worth a throw at the stumps. Chris Waller trained mare that made her Australian debut at Rosehill four weeks ago where the track pattern was clearly against her but her finale was more than sound behind Bella Rouge. Was down to run last Saturday in a Stakes race but was scratched and instead runs here. Knockout hope.
Race 7. (14:40) Victor Ludorum @ Darley (Bm88) 1400m
Happy to butter up again with 5 Irish Legend (Bet Now: $4.00). Les Bridge trains this former UK galloper, which made his Australian debut over 1500m here a few weeks ago where he didn’t get the rub of the green in the straight but was good late when clear when third to Wicklow. Fitter, I think he’s the one with good upside.
6 Grande Rumore (Bet Now: $8.00) is a talented mare for Kris Lees. Good late and close up two back behind Bella Rouge. Raced over 1400m at Flemington again and she got a peach from McDougall to win narrowly but impressively. If she can hold that form, she’ll be around the mark.
2 Yiyi (Bet Now: $7.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that resumes and I think could be dangerous fresh. He hasn’t raced since Feb 26 at Randwick when producing an end of prep run behind a quality animal in stablemate Surefire. Has trialled up well enough to my eye and should be strong late.
Race 8. (15:20) Tab (Bm78) 1800m
I want to give 5 First Light (Bet Now: $6.50) another chance. Former UK stayer that made his Australian debut for Chris Waller over 1700m at Caulfield three weeks ago where he was well tried at a price. Unfortunately for those that were on, he didn’t really fire and was a bit on the plain side behind Lyrical Lad. I think a rise to 1800m suits. Whether he wants one more, not sure, but I think his UK form suggests he has talent.
8 Lovetheinvasion (Bet Now: $4.80) could pinch it from the front for Jason Deamer. This mare is three weeks between runs since attempting to lead throughout over this trip at Randwick and she gave a solid kick but just felt the pinch late when fourth. If she gets a cheap furlong or two in front, she’ll be hard to run down.
7 Oz Legend (Bet Now: $17.00) is a threat for sure I feel. He resumed on a testing track at Sandown and while he was never a winning factor, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Chief Altony, who should have won last time out at Caulfield, so the form reads well, love him up in trip and has good upside.
Race 9. (16:00) China Horse Club (Bm78) 1400m
The danger is that this could be April Rain 2.0, but I do think 13 Frumos (Bet Now: $2.05) is very good for Chris Waller and this could be a stepping stone to blacktype later in the year. 2/2 to start her career, both wins coming over 1400m at Newcastle and each time she has been arrogant. If this track plays fair, she can sit back, round them up and win comfortably again.
9 Bitcoin Baby (Bet Now: $6.50) will land on the bunny and prove hard to run down. That was the case at Randwick a few weeks back and she looked the winner for a few strides but couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up third to Rebel Shadow in a good effort. Hard fit, good racing style, she’ll take beating.
11 One Aye (Bet Now: $34.00) is a Joseph/Jones trained mare that resumes and she is capable if she’s ready to go. This girl hasn’t raced since a Country Championships Qualifier when down the track behind Testator Silens, producing an end of prep run. Liked her Sapphire Coast trial win and she showed last prep she can measure up at Saturday metro level.
Race 10. (16:40) Fab Industrial Logistics-Bm78 1100m
12 Shades Of Rose (Bet Now: $2.90) deserves another look. Bjorn Baker trained filly that resumed here two weeks ago and if you were on, apologies for bringing it up. She bucked soon after jumping and took no competitive part in the race. Tick over trial was a good piece of work and on speed, she’ll take beating.
1 Snowzone (Bet Now: $5.00) is a beauty for Kris Lees. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Randwick where he was on speed throughout and tried hard, but couldn’t get past the well tried all the way winner Conscript. He was a several weeks between runs so you’d think there is improvement to come.
Tommy Berry gets on well with 3 Our Bellagio Miss (Bet Now: $7.00) and he is back on the mare. She ran three weeks ago at Randwick where she was tardy away, keen in the run and didn’t fire in a clear forgive behind Hulk. If she jumps clean, she’ll land in a plum spot and can threaten.
