29/10/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Rosehill, The Golden Eagle day

A bumper ten event meeting has been set down for Rosehill this Saturday, headlined by what looks like will be a cracking edition of the Golden Eagle (1500m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Fitter and up to 1200m, happy to speck 1 Tap N Run (Bet Now: $21.00). You look at the form around him, gee it reads so well for a Highway. He resumed over 1000m at Warwick Farm and essentially, it was a barrier trial. He was run off his legs but his last bit was actually quite good against the track pattern. Great second up record, handles all condition and will be strong late.

11 Sir Ravanelli (Bet Now: $9.50) is a proven Highway performer that comes back to town in winning form. He looked so well placed at Port Macquarie last time out and albeit he took a while to get there, he did and finally got a win on the board. Like him back up in trip and won’t mind juice in the track.

I think 1200m will be ideal for 23 Brazen Impact (Bet Now: $34.00). Last couple of runs have come over 1000m, the latest at Goulburn when back in the field and closed off his race nicely when third to Merc. His best is certainly good enough and he’s down in the weights, so he commands some level of respect.

12 Va Via (Bet Now: $2.60) hasn’t won in a little while but has been thereabouts. Notable drifter in betting at the Warwick Farm midweeks last time but she ran a positive race, getting the suck run behind the speed and wasn’t beaten far when second to the well tried Audette. I think with a soft run in transit, she’ll be around the mark.

4 Party For One (Bet Now: $9.00) is such a frustrating horse to follow. The talent is under the hood, clearly, but her racing style is ordinary. That said, she was excellent against the pattern behind The Poacher, finishing under a length away. If she is within range on the turn, she can certainly take this out.

9 Fumiko (Bet Now: $6.50) has the engine under the hood to give this a shake. Market wanted her when she resumed two weeks back at Eagle Farm and the bets were landed, coming with a well timed run from off the speed and producing good change up speed to win. Harder here, but think she can measure up.

4 Waterford (Bet Now: $1.75) should be winning this. He was trying to force his way into the Golden Eagle via the Silver Eagle but got too far back and was never really a factor behind Vilana. I don’t think he’s quite up to that level. This looks more his go, and off prior wins, he’s quite clearly the one to beat.

3 Global Ausbred (Bet Now: $8.50) has to be respected here. Yes, he was $201 in the Silver Eagle, but he ran an absolute belter of a race in defeat when a close up fourth to Vilana, with condition running out being the reason he didn’t place. Any hint of improvement, never mind holding that form, he’s a massive threat.

Bjorn Baker has 7 Miss Madison (Bet Now: $9.50) absolutely flying at the moment. She has won two on the bounce, both at the midweeks at Warwick Farm. Latest came last Wednesday over the mile where she was backed with confidence and in a driving finish, got the job done. She can measure up for sure.

I want to give 10 Pink Ivory (Bet Now: $3.90) another chance. Big win here two back before going to Randwick three weeks ago where she wasn’t suited at all by the race shape and track pattern in a total forgive behind Navajo Peak. Forgive a good horse for one poor run and IMO she is a good horse heading in the right direction.

5 Hameron (Bet Now: $3.00) can be a big improver here for Chris Waller. I actually liked him at odds in The Metropolitan last time but 2400m and that level just found him out when down the track behind No Compromise. Tick over trial last week was pretty good and off prior form, he’s hard to beat in a race like this.

12 Pale King (Bet Now: $8.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He was pretty good fresh at Flemington on Trial Day before going to Randwick where he ran into an absolute bog and couldn’t pick his feet up behind Navajo Peak. Firmer footing expect improvement.

9 Mars Mission (Bet Now: $2.80) is a handy galloper for Team Hawkes that resumed over 1100m at Warwick Farm at the midweeks. He was a notable drifter in betting and while he didn’t win, he still ran quite well from the back when third to Bullet Rider. Fiter, hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run.

7 Winning Verse (Bet Now: $3.10) looks to have returned in pretty good order. Marc Conners trained mare that resumed here five weeks ago when on speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off when asked and was nabbed late by Fox Fighter in a good return. Is a second up winner and has a touch of quality on her side.

If you can trust the first up win, then 1 Classy Jaybee (Bet Now: $7.00) is in the mix. First run for Jeremy Sylvester came in The Hurricane at Newcastle over 900m when wide throughout but he trucked in the run and when asked for the effort, he found and was too good. Harder here, but commands respect.

I had to take a slice of $17 all in for 10 Star Of India (Bet Now: $11.00) because it just looked a crazy early price. You look at his overseas form, gee it reads well for a race like this, which isn’t exactly deep in terms of depth. Annabel Neasham takes over, from all reports he’s settled into Australian life nicely and if he brings his best, I think he wins.

3 Yonkers (Bet Now: $9.00) is working up to a win for Chris Waller. He ran in the Coongy on Thousand Guineas Day at Caulfield and tried his guts out but was simply no match for Gunstock. He is the quality of the field and is fourth up from a break off a hard run, so he should be at peak fitness.

5 Pinarello (Bet Now: $20.00) has been set for the race and has the upside. He was near the hot speed in the Craven Plate and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Cascadian, actually finding the line pretty well late despite being well held. 2000m is ideal, and if he gets a cheap run near the speed, he’ll be dangerous.

3 Mazu (Bet Now: $4.80) is going to be the next #1 sprinter in Australia once Nature Strip retires. His Everest run, IMO, was the best of the race comfortably. Wide no cover, back, and chasing, he was entitled to run last, but he had the hide to attack the line and run third to Giga Kick. If that hasn’t busted him, he’ll take beating.

2 Private Eye (Bet Now: $6.50) has come back in outstanding order. He resumed with a bang in the Gilgai before going to The Everest where he looked all over the winner when he came off the back of Nature Strip but was nabbed near the peg by Giga Kick. Fast run 1300m, he’ll be one of the strongest late and is the form horse.

If this track can dry out, I think 5 Kolding (Bet Now: $71.00) can run a cheeky race at a big price. He has been kept on ice since the Theo Marks when tailed off last in an awful return. Given a good break with several trials under the belt. My thinking is the stable wouldn’t persist if he wasn’t showing anything at home.

I am fascinated with 13 Welwal (Bet Now: $19.00). Took a slice of $101 because when you break down his form, it probably reads, overall, better than Light Infantry. Far from disgraced behind Modern Games two back and found the 2100m too far last time behind a star, Vadeni. Both of those have well and truly franked the form, loved the way he closed in a trial…if this track doesn’t cop too much rain, he’s right in the mix.

All things being equal, 12 Light Infantry (Bet Now: $3.60) is quite clearly the one to beat. He brings the A1 form from overseas, being a last start second at Deauville to Inspiral, one of the better 3YO’s in Europe, and he comfortably beat a world class horse, State Of Rest. 1500m looks very much ideal, track not rock hard…clear threat.

17 Gypsy Goddess (Bet Now: $13.00) is the one I am very wary of. Classy mare for David Vandyke that resumes, and the stable is okay at resuming in a big race eg Yankee Rose many years ago. She has been out of sight out of mind it seems given she is first up with two trials under the belt, but Blinkers on for the return tells me there is good intent, and a fast run 1500m will see her be one of the strongest late.

5 Awesome Lad (Bet Now: $10.00) is knocking on the door to win one and I think he gets a great chance here I feel. He attempted to lead throughout at the Gold Coast last time and he looked like he would kick back and win, but was nabbed late by Ucalledit. You go back through his form, it reads very well for what is essentially a Midway, and gets J Kah.

1 Mahagoni (Bet Now: $3.50) is the class of the field, backing up from a strong win last Saturday at Randwick in a 78 when ridden a peach by Shinn and in a driving go, finished best. He doesn’t want the track to be too badly rain affected, especially with the weight, but he is the class and best horse in the race.

7 Oakfield Arrow (Bet Now: $17.00) is certainly capable. She has been kept on ice since September 17 when leading and tiring in a Randwick Midway won by Mahagoni, who has gone on with it since, so the form reads well, and I thought she moved very well in a recent tick over trial. Tricky gate, but her best is good enough.

8 Arbitration (Bet Now: $8.50) on top for me. James Cummings trained mare that has been kept on ice since a dominant win at the midweeks at this track/distance where she got back in the run but was able to slice her way through the field, get clear air and produce good change up speed to win impressively.

9 Stromboli (Bet Now: $4.80) is a progressive animal for Team Hawkes. Zac Lloyd gave him a ripping steer at Warwick Farm last time, sitting near the speed and was there to be beaten but found plenty under pressure to get the win. 1300m is a query but if he can see it out fine, he’ll take beating.

11 Black Duke (Bet Now: $17.00) has come back in really good order I think for Richard Litt. He had specking at odds to beat Kote in the Midway three weeks ago and he tried hard but the race shape and track pattern was clearly against him but liked the way he finished the race off behind the three year old. Hard fit now and on firmer footing, he appeals.

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 10 Star Of India
