Daniel Stackhouse’s bid to secure his first Victorian jockeys’ premiership has encountered a minor setback as the leading jockey faced suspension at Werribee on Sunday.
Stackhouse, who is currently tied with John Allen at 122 wins, pleadedΒ to failing to ride out his mount in the third race of the day,.
As a result, he has been suspended for seven meetings, starting from July 15 and concluding on July 23.
Stewards expressed the belief that Stackhouse’s lack of action may have cost his mount, Sierra De Gredos ($3.80), a higher placing than its fourth position.
The potential implications for the horse’s performance further emphasized the significance of Stackhouse’s inaction.
In addition, Tahlia Hope also faced a suspension after pleading guilty to careless riding in Race 2 at Pakenham on Saturday.
As a consequence, Hope will be absent from racing for eight meetings, with her suspension scheduled to begin on July 15 and conclude on July 23.
