If nominations are anything to go by, the meeting at the Gold Coast on Saturday … the first on the new turf track, will have full fields … and probably an added race or two … after two-hundred-and-one nominations were received for the scheduled seven-race meeting.
Fields will be restricted to twelve runners on the day.
Report-backs by jockeys who have already ridden on the track have all been unanimously, extremely positive … and indeed complimentary … to track manager Nevesh Ramdhani and his team who have managed this very sizable project over the past ten months with a minimum of fuss.
Safe to say, the meeting will be watched with keen interest given that, not only will it effectively usher in a new era for the Gold Coast Turf Club, but the venue will also soon become the focus of national attention when its hosts the multi-million dollar Magic Millions race-day on January 13 … headlined by the Magic Millions Two-Year-old Classic and the Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Guineas, both offering $3 million in prize-money.
