Racing Victoria stewards have informed trainers Clinton McDonald and Luke Oliver of irregularities in recent test samples from their horses.
A pre-race blood test from McDonald’s Flying On A Limb, unplaced at Flemington in April, showed triamcinolone acetonide, an anti-inflammatory banned on race day.
Oliver’s filly, Hey Bella, tested positive for dexamethasone in a post-race urine sample after winning a maiden at Cranbourne in April. Dexamethasone, used for treating allergic reactions and inflammatory diseases, is also prohibited on race day.
Confirmatory tests upheld the initial findings. While no charges have been filed, stewards are continuing their investigations and have notified both trainers that the matter remains under scrutiny.
