Entain's Trackside Media has announced I Wish I Win will run in its Everest slot.

Everest runner-up I Wish I Win will have an opportunity to go one better this year after being officially confirmed to represent the slot held by Entain’s Trackside Media.

Trackside selected the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained I Wish I Win for the 2023 renewal and the gelding came within a half-length of victory, powering home to finish second to Think About It.

Cameron Rodger, Entain Australia and New Zealand managing director – New Zealand, said the $20 million The Everest (1200m) was becoming increasingly popular across the Tasman and the Waikato Stud-born I Wish I Win was again an ideal fit for their slot.

“We’re delighted to be involved with ‘Wish’ again, together with the team at Waikato Stud and Moody Coleman Racing,” Rodgers said.

“His win in the Group One Kingsford-Smith Cup in Brisbane last month showed us he’s going to be perfectly primed to climb the Randwick mountain in October and we’re sure he’s going to have plenty of Kiwi fans cheering him on too.”

Moody was likewise thrilled to partner with Entain for another Everest quest with I Wish I Win, who is scheduled to make his seasonal return in September.

“We went so close in 2023 and I am hopeful that we can go one better in just under three months,” Moody said.

Rising six, I Wish I Win has won seven of his 21 starts and more than $11.8 million in prizemoney, rounding out his latest campaign with his second Group 1 success in the Kingsford-Smith Cup at Eagle Farm in June.

I Wish I Win is the second horse officially locked in for the Everest after former West Australian sprinter Bustling was selected by slot holders Max Whitby and Neil Werrett.
