Melbourne Cup 2024 hopeful Brayden Star has been sidelined, officially ruling him out of Tuesday’s race at Flemington.
The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained horse was positioned 26th in the Melbourne Cup order of entry, needing several withdrawals to secure a spot before the final acceptances on Saturday afternoon.
“The decision has been made to hold Brayden Star from competing in the Melbourne Cup Carnival,” the stable shared in a statement. “He’ll head for a well-earned break on the lush spring grass at Seymour Park, gearing up for new targets in the autumn.”
Busuttin and Young still have contenders Muramasa, sitting 16th, and Mostly Cloudy, in 21st, in the entry list for Tuesday’s Cup.
