Star jockey Chris Parnham says he’s looking forward being back aboard unbeaten galloper Wind And The Lion in tomorrow’s TABtouch-Placid Ark Prelude (1000m) at Ascot.
The son of Written By won by three lengths on debut at Belmont in July, where he beat Arduet and Scenic George.
Parnham rode Wind And The Lion on that occasion and said he made a really good impression.
“He’s a nice horse,” Chris Parnham told TABradio.
“He’s only had the one run, but he won really well that day.
“I’m looking forward to him.”
The gelding has drawn barrier 10 for his return, with key rivals Repossession, Sinful Living and Catch Carter faring better in barriers one, four and five respectively.
Parnham said while the draw wasn’t ideal, he didn’t expect the wide draw to be too detrimental to his chance.
“The barrier makes it a bit tricky,” he said.
“1000m three-year-old grade you’d think the speed will be on.
“Hopefully he can just be back in the field and blending in at the right time.”
Wind And The Lion is a $2.65 favourite for tomorrow’s $125,000 event, with Sinful Living ($4.60), Catch Carter ($6.50) and Repossession ($6.50) the other runners in the market.
The Sean and Jake Casey-trained galloper is also the $3 favourite for the Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) later this month, following the news Belgravia Stakes winner West Star was out for the remainder of the Pinnacles.
Parnham rode West Star to victory in last week’s Listed event.
As well as Wind And The Lion, Parnham teams up with key runners Bravo Centurion and Super Smink in the Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) and Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) on tomorrow’s card.
