Warwick Farm trainer Matt Smith will split his runners across three states this weekend.

Noted fresh performer World Alliance will spearhead Matthew Smith’s team for Randwick in what is shaping as a busy weekend for the trainer.

Smith will spread his squad across three states this weekend in a quest to continue his strong start to the year, which leading into Thursday’s Scone meeting has yielded six winners, including Idle Flyer at Warwick Farm midweek.

“The horses are going well. We had a good day Wednesday and we’ve had a good last couple of weeks,” Smith said.

“We’ve got a busy weekend. We’ve got Friday night at Moonee Valley, Saturday in Brisbane and Saturday at Randwick. They’re all over the place this week.”

World Alliance resumes in the ATC Business Connect Sprint (1000m) on Saturday, shooting to maintain his perfect first-up record of three wins.

While Smith was hoping to find a slightly softer starting point, he said the five-year-old was shaping up well at home and would be suited on the 52kg minimum.

“He is good first-up, he’s got no weight on his back and he is in good nick,” Smith said.

“He is trialling well, his work has been good. I think he’ll run a good race and then we’ll try to find something a bit more suitable.

“I think there are some nice races for him and he can continue to go through the handicaps. He’s a nice, horse sound.”

Reece Jones will partner World Alliance ($11), one of four Randwick runners for Smith with the lightly raced Winston Hills ($15) also rated an each-way chance in the Mostyncopper Handicap (1200m).

Interstate, Smith will saddle up the speedy Wondereach at Moonee Valley on Friday night while last start winner Final Reset represents the yard at Doomben.
