The Tony Noonan trained mare Ortensia took out yesterdays James Boag Galaxy at Randwick.Ortensia went into the race as the $4.40 favourite and punters would have been freightened for most of the race as Ortensia was at the back of the field at the turn and never looked a winning chance until the 75m mark when she flew home down the outside to edge out Shellscrape.
Ortensia flying late to win the Galaxy
Definately Ready $4.60 second favourite led the field into the straight although never looked comfortable running clockwise and drifted wide in the straight and was eased out of the race which pushed most of the field wide but it was the widest runner (Ortensia) who got the winners cheque.
Placings:
First: Ortensia
Second: Shellscrape
Third: Swift Alliance
Fourth: Stryker
