2022 Kennedy Oaks Race Horse Ratings
1. She’s Extreme: The tempo of the race ensured the best horse in the race would win and not the best stayer, and She’s Extreme was the best horse, duly saluting. Gate one, she landed box seat and was far too good.
Rating: 9/10
2. Pavitra: Could not have been ridden any better by Jamie Kah in front. Got absolute control in front and gave a very strong kick, but just didn’t have the class to go with She’s Extreme late.
Rating: 8/10
3. Queen Air: Landed the 1/1 and I thought McDougall made the right move by taking off on the turn, trying to make it a staying contest, but she was found wanting behind the first two.
Rating: 7.5/10
4. Zennzella: Had the soft run outside the slow speed set by Pavitra and just lacked the quality to go with them late, battling to run fourth. 2500m probably a bridge too far.
Rating: 7/10
5. As Time Goes By: I thought her run was full of merit. Race shape was clearly against her, and was never a factor, but loved the way she found the line. I think she’ll win an Oaks next prep, whether it be in Sydney or Adelaide.
Rating: 7.5/10
6. Let’sbefrankbaby: Solid effort. She had the back of Queen Air throughout and was there to be some sort of threat but just whacked away late. Pass mark for sure without jumping up and down.
Rating: 6/10
7. Foxy Cleopatra: She has merit in her performance. Was three wide early but eventually slotted in. But then the slow tempo just put pay to her chances. She’s a working progress and will be better next prep.
Rating: 6/10
8. Sirius Princess: Given she’s a four start maiden prior, her run was excellent. Back near last in a race wher they absolutely walked, but I really liked the way she found the line. I think she’s one to follow next prep.
Rarting: 7/10
9. Renaissance Woman: Forgive and forget the ride. Walking tempo put pay to her chances, but the ride didn’t help either. Zero initiative (again) from Rachel King…how/why the stable persist putting her on, I do not know, especially in Group l races. Why Josh Parr wasn’t on I do not know. Forget the run. But I will say, I did expect more from her late.
Rating: 4/10
10. Albanian Icon: Wasn’t too bad in defeat given the massive SP. She had a suck run nearer the inside and battled, but given the race shape, she had to be beaten not too far.
Rating: 2/10
11. Makrana: Had a good run in transit and presented to be a threat for a few stides. But she came off the bit far too quickly and dropped out to finish tailed off last. Hopefully all is okay with her.
Rating: 1/10
