Canterbury
$40 Win Kolding R1 @ $2.8 (BetEasy)
$10 E/W Lucky Prospector R3 @ $16/$6 (BetEasy)
$40 Win Transmitter R7 @ $3.9 (BetEasy)
Canterbury Overview:
Tricky gate, but all over Kolding in the first. Looks an above average three year old for Chris Waller who resumes with some outstanding form next to his name from the Spring. Brilliant trial win last Tuesday in good time and did it under no pressure. If he can overcome the gate, he’s probably an odds on pop and can progress to better things. Lucky Prospector has done good things for me at his past couple of runs. Tash Burleigh has done a fab job with this bloke, and is going for three in a row. Clearly his hardest test to date since joining the stable, but likely lands outside Navigator and that pair could control things from the front. Transmitter looks well placed by the Godolphin camp. Couple of sharp wins to start the prep before racing here under the lights and being far from disgraced when third to Sylvia’s Mother and Alassio, and that form was franked on Saturday. Looks extremely hard to beat.
Sandown
$50 Win Hang Man R4 @ $2 (TAB)
$50 Win Good Idea R8 @ $4.2 (Sportsbet)
Sandown Overview:
Think there are two standouts. Hang Man at $2+ just looks a great bet. If he improves off the outstanding first up win, he should repeat the dose and really, with the upside, he should be around the $1.50 mark. Good thing. Best of the day for mine is Good Idea in the last. I wasn’t sure on how good he was given how well bred he is, but the key to him, like the breeding, is getting to a staying trip. Admittedly not up against much, but three runs at 2000m+ has seen him win three times by a combined margin of 11.7 lengths. Toughest test to date here, but he’s already been well backed in early betting. Looks progressive and the one to beat in the last.
