Sydney’s Autumn Racing Carnival continues at Randwick this Saturday with day two of The Championships. We chatted with Palmerbet CEO Grant Palmer to get his thoughts on Saturday’s racing.
Aside from the four Group 1 races on Saturday, which race are you most looking forward to at Randwick on Saturday?
I’m really looking forward to watching the Percy Sykes Stakes for the 2-year-old fillies (race 4). Godolphin has five runners and I don’t think they will win! After the season they have had with the babies that is remarkable. CHEER LEADER ($3) was a dominant winner for the Snowden yard on a Friday night at Moonee Valley and I think she looks the genuine article and may have the Blue Army covered this week.
Will you be taking anything on at Caulfield on Saturday?
The lightly raced EDUARDO ($2) looks under the odds in the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes and we will be taking him on. It is a big class drop from Group 1 level back to listed company but he jumps sharply in weight and there looks to be a lot of early speed around him on Saturday. He could be a sitting shot for his rivals late.
Do you like anything outside of the Group 1 races at Randwick on Saturday?
The New Zealand visitor AVANTAGE ($4.8) made it seven wins from eight starts when winning on Australian debut a fortnight ago and looks hard to beat in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint. She has drawn to get a gun run and could be a star going forward. I’m sticking with her.
