A strong field has been assembled for the Bordertown Cup (2000m) on Tuesday, with a pretty solid near capacity field assembled.

Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2024 Bordertown Cup.

2024 Bordertown Cup Runner Preview:

1. Thrill Kill: I do think he is the best horse in the race, by some distance. Didn’t do a bad job in defeat in a tidy race at Morphettville Parks last time, and now being hard fit, up in trip, he’s clearly the one to beat I say.

2. Goliotus: Hasn’t raced since Nov 2 when beaten a lip by Mi Rock Aly in the Mortlake Cup, just missing in a close finish. The break between runs I find interesting but he brings strong form lines.

3. Alimonti: Several weeks between runs since winning at The Valley. It was a blanket finish and drove hard to get up on the peg. The form out of it looks suspect but Henry Dwyer rarely misfires when he hops the border.

4. Kentucky Nick: He comes through a solid 1950m race at Morphettville Parks where he did work on speed and fought hard but just felt the pinch late. Maps to get a sweet sit in transit and his best is more than good enough.

5. Stormsarrived: Hasn’t raced since a surprise win on Nov 9 at Morphettville Parks. Credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found and on the line was strongest late. If she gets the cart voer via Thermodynamic, she’s dangerous.

6. Brawl: He is my saver. I thought he was very good at The Valley when resuming over the mile. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did close off and was quite good. More upside than most, up to 2000m, good camp…he’s hard to beat.

7. Dr Dee Dee: He does save his best for this track and yes, four wide no cover last time so a total forgive…but just not sure how well he is going compared to previous preps. Happy to let him go through to the keeper.

8. Silent Don: SCR

9. Thermodynamic: The start will determine his chances. Strong winner of the Clare Cup last time, he was on speed and did cop heat but he fended them off and was too good. If he gets across and doesn’t spend too many petrol tickets, he’ll look the winner.

10. Imposing Suspect: Thought he had his chance in the Clare Cup behind Thermodynamic but just couldn’t quite get past him. Draw makes things tricky and I am not sold on him at 2000m at this level. Keen to oppose.

11. Coraggio: Should appreciate firmer footing vs Warrnambool last time but he doesn’t bring strong enough form lines to threaten.

12. Space Equity: Total forgive at Gawler on Saturday after doing work, sitting wide no cover. Not sure if he backs up but even if he does, I doubt he measures up.

13. Jaywick (First Emergency): Did too much work in the Clare Cup but he’s not going well enough.

14. Aeroette (Second Emergency): Was plain at Stawell on Sunday and is eligible for weak 58 races.

2024 Bordertown Cup Speed Map:

Thermodynamic is drawn wide but with the claiming apprentice, i dare say the tactics will be to try and carve over, land in front and run along. Stormsarrived likely gets the drag across if that eventuates, while Goliotus and Thrill Kill should use middle gates to advantage and settle handy.
