The Fillies and Mares step out over the 1500m trip at Rosehill this weekend with Heavens Above out to defend her 2017 tittle. There will be plenty of others keen to match strong including generally prominent Daysee Doom and Dixie Blossoms as well as Group 1 Winners Egg Tart and Silent Sedition. Dixie Blossoms, Raiment head the market at $7.00 with Sportsbet.

1. Dixie Blossoms (4) – Corey Brown
Came from last to score in most recent go over 1400m. 1500 suits better going on that run. Been in an ongoing battle with Daysee Doom who she finds again this weekend. Just 0.2L off Shoals in the Group 1 Myer Classic in November last year. Won 2 from 4 second up and placed in 3 of 4. Drawn well.
2. Silent Sedition (7) – Craig Williams
Last start winner by almost 2 and a half lengths over 1400. Won the Group 1 William Reid Stakes over 1200m last year, also yet to miss a place over 1500 finishing runner up in this race in 2017. Has won out to as much as 1800 and runs a place more often than not.
3. Daysee Doom (14) – Andrew Adkins
Coming off a big win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes. Yet to win past 1400m but has solid second-up form. Loves the Rosehill track where she’s been placed in 7 of 8 runs here, winning 4. Beat the likes of Foxplay, Prompt Response and Egyptian Symbol last start.
4. Heavens Above (9) – Tye Angland
Came from 10th to win this race last year, beating Silent Sedition and Danish Twist. Has not so much as placed in any race since however, yet to be anywhere near the money in her last 7 starts. Will be looking to regain form here, placed in 4 from 5 second up and 3 from 3 at the track and distance.
5. Prompt Response (10) – Blake Shinn
Never too far away, possesses a big turn of foot and can storm home. Was not overly disappointing in the Spring when getting out to 1600-2000 and won easily when back to 1200 in the Group 2 Breeders Plate at Warwick Farm. Finished just 0.5L off Daysee Doom in the Millie Fox Stakes. Right in the thick of it.
6. Zanbagh (17) – Christian Reith
Needs to find massive improvement after finishing last in 3 out of 5 recent starts and second last in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes behind Dixie Blossoms. 44 start veteran that has won 7 races, including a win over Daysee Doom in a Group 2 last year. Placed just once second up in 10 goes. Won 2 at the track and distance.
7. Egg Tart (3) – Kerrin McEvoy
Placed just once in 4 goes since her Group 1 win in the Queensland Oaks however admittedly behind track record breaker Deploy as well as some very smart ones in Tosen Stardom and Shillelagh. Last run was an eye catcher, coming from 11th at the 400 to run just 1L 4th behind Crack Me Up and Care To Think. 1500m Yes.
8. Alizee (15) – Glyn Schofield
Will jump from a different post code but we haven’t seen the best of her yet. Group 1 winner who blew away Champagne Cuddles and Cellargirl twice at Randwick last year before running 3rd behind Aloisia and Shoals in the 1000 Guineas. Won first up this prep but dropped off last run. Did come from 10th of finish 6th however. Can bounce back.
9. Aide Memoir (5) – Jason Collett
Won 7 races in Kiwi land but almost 8L last on debut here before beating just 2 home in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes. Was a Group 1 Winner in NZ but 6L off Gingernuts when running into him at Hastings. Faded when finishing 3L off Dixie Blossoms last time out over 1400m. Fitness a query.
10. Danish Twist (11) – Tim Clark
Struggling to find best form as of late but this horse can motor, will have admirers. Won 4 on the trot back in 2016 but yet to claim a win since. Just 0.1L off world-class sprinter Takedown and Our Boy Malachi in arguably her best run yet. Hasn’t won at the distance and faded from 2nd to finish last almost 8L behind Dixie Blossoms in most recent go. Plenty of improvement needed.
11. Eckstein (12) – Brenton Avdulla
Beat Dixie Blossoms in the Group 1 Myer Classic last year, also taking care of Egyptian Symbol in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes at Eagle Farm in May 2017. May be a bit outclassed and yet to win past 1300m. Just under 3L off Dixie Blossoms when finishing midfield in last start. Came from 7th to miss by 0.1L in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares plate. Harder here.
12. Flippant (16) – Jay Ford
Last start winner to hold out Oregon’s Day and Soho Ruby in a good front-running effort. Last in the Group 2 Australia Stakes however and 4 and a half lengths off Silent Sedition over 1400m in February. Hasn’t won past 1400 and wide gate an issue.
13. Raiment (1) – Michael Walker
Benefit of in-from jockey. Hasn’t won since April 2017 however and convincingly beaten by Eckstein, Prompt Response and Dixie Blossoms in recent runs. Probably wants a bit of moisture in the track where she’s won 4 on rain-affected ground. Placed in last 2 but yet to be tried past 1400. Soft draw, can be there abouts with any luck.
14. Francaletta (2) – Stephen Baster
Another New Zealand import who boasts an impressive record of 10 starts for 6 wins and 2 minor places. Won a Group 3 before coming across the ditch, where she was placed behind Dixie Blossoms and Raiment on debut here. Yet to be tried past 1400. Won 5 from 8 on soft ground and could improve on last run from soft draw.
15. Bring Me Roses (8) – Dean Yendall
Won a Group 2 at Flemington in the Spring and gone on to place in 3 of her last 4, most notably 3rd behind Grunt and Peaceful State in the Group 1 Australian Guineas. Only win was over a mile but well performed over 1400. Perhaps suited to the 1500m trip. Good effort on the pace last time out.
16. Slightly Sweet (19) – Jeff Taylor
Drawn the car park here but typically very strong late. Disappointing behind Prompt Response and then Dixie Blossoms in last 2 runs, also beaten well by Daysee Doom in May last year. Placed in 3 consecutive runs to end her prep last year. 4 cracks at the distance only placing in one but has previously won over a mile. Beaten Winx twice.
17. Just Dreaming (13) – Rachel King
Came from deep in the field to win at Wyong last start but much harder here. Placed in 11 of 15 career runs to date, winning 6. Yet to miss a place over 1500 and has won 2 from 3 at the track and distance. Wide gate, plenty of depth in this field. Second ever start in Group company.
18. Oregon’s Day (6) – Craig Newitt
Just the 3 wins to her name but not disgraced in recent runs. Best when second up with 2 wins from 3 starts without missing a place. Wins up to 1600. First go at the track and will be aided by 6kg weight relief. Group 3 winner and Group 2 placed.
