With Greg Miles hanging up the microphone on June 30th, 2017 – there are plenty of candidates jockeying for position at the plum job of head race-caller in Victoria.
William Hill has former TVN caller Mark Shean as the $2.25 favourite to replace the legendary Miles who retires after 36 Melbourne Cup calls.
If they can prize him away from his ABC commitments, Gerard Whateley ($17) would be a popular choice whilst the doyen of jumps racing Ric McIntosh is at $26 to be given the promotion.
Jarryd Hayne is at $201 to turn his attention to his one true love horse race calling.
No questions all eyes will be on the results as will be the money for the markets
