Can’t Be Done, well backed since Wednesday, was unable to hold off Star Surprise late
Can’t Be Done drifted late in betting ($2.70 to $3.50) with Avon River ($4.60) the second elect
Third placegetter Lady Loire tightened late from $6 to $5 including one bet of $5,000 at $5.50
Star Surprise eased on raceday from $9 to $11
Race 2
In a blanket finish, Miss Vixen poked her nose out on the line to triumph in Race 2
Miss Vixen surprised the majority of punters as she was easy on raceday ($3.90 to $6)
Charlayne – who finished third – drifted as favourite throughout raceday ($2.60 to $4.20)
Runner-up Beautiful Flyer received late support (as much as $7.50 to $6.50)
The unplaced Mystified was also supported late in betting ($7 to $5.50)
Race 3
In a wide open affair, Special Diva proved too good over the concluding stages
Special Diva hovered around the $10-$12 mark on raceday before closing $11
Runner-up Ballet Master tightened in the last five minutes of betting ($9.50 to $7.50)
Unplaced favourite Cryptic Jewel eased late in betting from $4 to $5
Third placegetter Satori was a $12 chance
Race 4
Following a delay due to rain and hail, Turn The Tide landed a terrific plunge
Turn The Tide was backed from $23 to $11 on raceday and produced a late burst
Runner-up Smart Elissim eased from $3.60 to $4.40 before tightening late to $4
Unplaced favourite Morrissy was heavily tried ($3.40 to as short as $2.40; closed $2.80)
Fight – who was unplaced – drifted noticeably on raceday from $3.50 to $6.50
Spartan Flame ($11) finished third
Race 5
Favourite punters were ruing another rough result with Travimyfriend saluting
Runner-up Organza was an easing raceday favourite ($1.75 to $2.10)
63 percent of the win hold was for Organza including one bet of $20,000 at $2.10
Travimyfriend was specked from $23 to $15 early on raceday before closing $18
Elite Drake ($5.50-$5-$5.50) finished third
Race 6
In what turned out to be a slogging duel, Tavirun held off his rivals reasonably well
Tavirun was slightly easy on raceday as the second elect ($2.50 to $2.80)
The main support was for third placegetter Junipal ($2.40 to $2.60 on raceday)
Half of the win hold in this race was for Junipal who opened $5.50 on Wednesday
Runner-up Aristocratic Miss closed $9.50 ($8.50-$9 for most of raceday)
Race 7
The photo finish was required and thankfully for favourite backers, Gododdin won
Gododdin was reasonably solid in betting on raceday ($4.60 or $4.80; closed $4.80)
The late rally was for the third placegetter Pinyin who tightened from $8 to $5
Golden Halo drifted from $4.60 to $5.50 and failed to run a placing
Runner-up Street Icon was as much as $10, as short as $8, and closed $9
Race 8
The Sir John Monash Stakes was a blowout result for punters with Oak Door victorious
Oak Door nabbed Jungle Edge in the last stride after the noted mudlark was well backed
Jungle Edge shortened from $6.50 to $3.50 favourite with one bet of $5,000 at $3.70
Malibu Style – who finished fourth – also had raceday backing ($7 to $4)
Oak Door was $23 at 8am AEST and eventually closed $51
Original favourite Soothing was friendless on raceday easing from $4 to $7.50
Third placegetter Princess Of Queens was a $26 hope
Race 9
Bedford provided favourite punters with a winner in the last after overpowering Exasperate
Bedford was a $4.60 second elect at 8am AEST before eventually firming to $4.20
Exasperate was solid around the $5-$6 mark for most of raceday and closed $5
Original favourite Shrouded In Mist was a notable drifter ($3 to $5) and failed to run a place
One bet of $4,000 at $4 on Shrouded In Mist did not subdue the drift
Master Shuhood – one of the dead-heaters for third – tightened from $8.50 to $6
The other dead-heater for third was Tinkermosa ($19)
ROSEHILL GARDENS
Race 1
In a desperate finish, Spend was able to outlast True Detective in the opening race
Spend looked set to score a comfortable victory at the 100m but True Detective kept finding
Spend did ease on raceday from $2.60 to $3, but the Team Hawkes debutant opened $6
Runner-up True Detective was as much as $3.80 on raceday before closing $3.40
Belitsa – as short as $6 to $8 – finished third
Race 2
Early backers of Phaistos were happy when Hugh Bowman saw daylight at the 200m mark
Phaistos was well backed from $3.40 on Wednesday when the market first opened
On raceday, Phaistos did ease though from $2.30 to $2.90
Runner-up Cinquedea was supported as the second elect from $3.80 to $3.40
Third placegetter Seles was a $23 hope
Race 3
In an extremely open TAB Highway, My Blue Jeans held off the fast finishing Weather Channel
My Blue Jeans was specked on raceday from $15 to as short as $10 before closing $12
Weather Channel opened $41 on Wednesday and was backed on raceday from $23 to $12
Unplaced favourite Nashian shortened from $5 to $4.20 early morning before closing $5.50
Gumshoe ($6) and Dulette ($6.50) also finished out of the placings
Scarlet Missile ($15) finished third
Race 4
Courtesy of a brilliant front-running ride from Tim Clark, Dylan’s Romance was victorious
There was late specking for Dylan’s Romance ($23 to $16) but the result was a surprise
The main raceday support was for Waking Moment but the favourite did not place
Waking Moment ($6 on Wednesday) was backed from $3.30 to $2.70 before closing $3.10
Original favourite Primitivo – also unplaced – drifted from $2.70 to $5 on raceday
Amerock ($15) and Hogmanay ($26) filled the minor placings
Race 5
Favourite punters were stunned after $1.55 favourite Spiritual Pursuit failed to run a placing
Spiritual Pursuit was heavily supported from $1.80 to $1.55 on raceday (touched $1.50)
60 percent of the win hold was on the unplaced Spiritual Pursuit
Bets of note included $10,000 at $1.65 to win and $20,000 at $1.10 to run a place
Agent Pippa drifted throughout raceday from $10 to $14
Deity ($5.50) and Gala Moshea ($71 outsider) finished second and third respectively
Race 6
In a tough start to the Quaddie, Curragh was able to outlast Cyber Intervention
Even though opinions were varied, Curragh was a drifter on raceday ($8 to $9.50)
Runner-up Cyber Intervention was another galloper easy in betting ($4.20 to $5)
Unplaced favourite Nahuel was $3.90 at 8am AEST and eventually closed $4.40
Third placegetter Love Shack Baby and unplaced Fuel had support (both $8.50-$6.50)

There were chances aplenty in the Winter Stakes with Eckstein prevailing late
Eckstein was respected in the market despite easing from $5 to $7 on raceday
Runner-up Gaulois received late backing and eventually closed $5 favourite (was $6.50)
Third placegetter Nicci’s Gold was as short as $4.80 before closing $7
Cradle Mountain – who finished fourth – tightened from $12 to $6 on raceday
Race 8
Favourite backers breathed an enormous sigh of relief when River Bird saluted
Kathy O’Hara managed to find a clear passage at the 200m mark and punters rejoiced
River Bird was well backed from $4.20 on $3.20 on raceday
Southern Lad ($4.80-$6) and Almanzora (as short as $5.50 to $7) did not place
Star Reflection ($16) and Fortensky ($81 outsider) were the minor placegetters
Race 9
It was a terrific finish for the majority of punters thanks to Handle The Truth
Handle The Truth was heavily fancied from $3.60 to $2.70 favourite on raceday
One punter celebrated after placing a wager of $5,000 at $2.70
Runner-up Oxford Tycoon was solid around the $5-$5.50 mark (closed $5.50)
There was a late rally for the third placegetter Jack’s Bar ($8.50 to $7)
Drahenfels ($5) finished fourth after being firm in the market all day
