Punters have waited until the hours leading into the 2019 Cox Plate to load up on a runner to win the $5m WFA event.
Japanese mare Lys Gracieux has been hammered on Cox Plate day by punters which has seen her odds of $3.70 slashed into her current price of $3.00.
Lys Gracieux had been pretty solid since final field markets opened on Tuesday but the big punters have waiting until race morning to load up on the class runner in the race.
Castelvecchio was backed early in betting which saw him shorten from $13 into $8.50 but his price has bottomed out and is likely to drift a point or two prior to jump time.
UK mare Magic Wand has been the second best backed horse on raceday to win the race and she is into $9.00 after opening at $17 on Tuesday.
Mystic Journey who headed Cox Plate odds for most of the year has been well backed since Tuesday and she has held her price despite the money for Lys Gracieux and Castelvecchio.
They are the four horses punters want with a bit of specking for Black Heart Bart, Kings Will Dream and Magic Wand at longer odds but all are still good results for bookies.
