Lord Von Costa is having his first run for Stephen Brown this Saturday at Flemington in the Goulburn Murray Handicap (1100m) and he has been well supported at longer odds.
The former Riverina galloper resumed down the straight a fortnight back and looked home but was bloused late by Rich Charm. Now trained on the track, and after that encouraging return, he has been backed into $15 after opening $21.
Favourite for the race is the talented Sydney visitor Spieth ($2.30-$2.50-$2.45), and he has been pretty solid, as has the other Sydney visitor Kings Troop ($5-$4.60).
Fireworks, scratched from the Valley last weekend, has been supported too ($31-$19-$21).
