A near capacity field will take their place in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) this Saturday at the Gold Coast.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Magic Millions Cup.
2025 Magic Millions Cup Runner Preview:
1. Revolutionary Miss: SCR
2. Abounding: Abounding commands respect for Rob Heathcoate. She comes through the Nudgee when wide throughout but despite the hard run, she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Bubba’s Bay. The rise to 1400m is ideal and with a better run in transit, she takes beating.
3. Chrysaor: No idea what to do with this horse. Hasn’t raced since the Festival Stakes where he got too far back in an on pace dominated affair. He does race best fresh, he gets B Shinn…I think he’s dangerous.
4. Oughton: He surged late in the Falvelon but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Cannonball. Back up in trip, genuine tempo, he’s racing so well…does he have the class?
5. Moravia: Blinkers on…is it last chance/saving grace? He should have won last Saturday but was run down late by Redford, who gave him a weight, a start and beat him. He can win and it wouldn’t shock me…but not for me after last week.
6. Charm Stone: Charm Stone looks so well in here. Price/Kent trained mare that has been freshened up since the Rupert Clarke at Caulfield where not much went right for her in the straight so forgive and forget the run. Looked to trial well at Rosehill and maps perfect, plus is very well in at the weights.
7. Military Expert: He doesn’t have a bad record when racing in QLD, but I do feel his better days are behind him and despite leading/on speed, I can’t see him beating these.
8. Flying Trapeze: I am convinced that Fire Tribe is flying. I thought his run at Wyong last time was very good. On a day where up/in was dynamite, he was back and never a winning threat, but he kept finding the line in a pretty good performance I thought. If he’s within range, he has the finale to win.
9. Battleton: I think he’s flying this horse, but wide gate, he’ll be dragged back to last and will need a 12/10 from Collett to win. Not for me.
10. Buillt: He has returned well but this looks a bridge too far.
11. Zou Sensation: The gate wasn’t used to advantage in The Syndicate but I really liked the way he finished off. If the gate can be used to advantage here, he’s dangerous at a price.
12. Freak Of Nature: Better suited in benchmark races.
13. Arts Object: Brave in The Wave last Satuday but back to 1400m in seven days…she’s tough, she’ll fight hard…could pinch a first four spot.
14. Hell Hath No Fury: SCR
15. Bel Air: Bel Air commands respect for Team Freedman. He ended last prep on a high when winning at Flemington on Cup Day over 1400m, finishing best to win narrowly but impressively. Liked a jumpout from him last week and stable should be respected when they are on the road.
16. Perfect Thought: Gave them a start and a beating to win at Randwick last time, but he wore down Bunker Hut, and I reckon a maiden at Taree could wear down Bunker Hut. If he wins, I am losing on the race.
17. Cinque Torri: Didn’t do a bad job in defeat last Saturday at Randwick but this looks a bridge too far.
18. West Of Africa: West Of Africa has to be given respect. He resumed at Randwick three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line in a very strong return behind impressive winner Accredited. More positive ride, he takes beating.
19. Redford (First Emergency): Redford is the one for me. He rises big time in grade/depth, but his win at the Sunny Coast last Saturday was incredible. He gave a Group performer, Moravia, 3kg as well as a start, but he beat him and knuckled down with real purpose late to win and win well. He gets massive weight relief this time around, he’ll be strong late and won’t mind if there is rain about. Only runs well.
20. Weigall Tiger (Second Emergency): Talented but not here.
21. Addriel (Third Emergency): Plain last Saturday in a much weaker race. Not here.
22. Deep Respect (Fourth Emergency): Pass.

2025 Magic Millions Cup Speed Map
A race void of genuine early speed here, but Military Expert does look the likely leader, with near him being Freak Of Nature and potentially Moravia, who was near the speed last week when a beaten odds on favourite. Flying Trapeze should hold the inside gate to advantage.
