A strong bunch of sprinters have been set down for the Magic Millions Snippets (1200m) this Saturday at the Gold Coast.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Magic Millions Snippets.
2025 Magic Millions Snippets Runner Preview:
1. Zarastro: Thought he had his chance on speed in the Falvelon last time but tired late in the piece. The first up run was a beauty but the second up run just leaves me a tad concerned about his chances. He can win, but I’d prefer to watch him win than back him to do so.
2. Cannonball: If you found him in the Falvelon, good luck. But he was $1.01 in the run and got there. The end of a hard 1200m is the big query with him but he maps ideally to get a decent enough run in transit.
3. Steady Ready: 1200m is the query with him but Team Sears has him humming. Arrogant win at Eagle Farm last time out from on speed but keep in mind it was 1000m. If he can stretch to 1200m, then they’re cooking with gas.
4. Irish Songs: Ripping horse but first up at this level and this kind of race…good luck.
5. Semana: Semana won on this day last year and looks on track to repeat the dose. She hasn’t raced since the Alan Brown during the Spring at Rosehill when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Here To Shock. Freshened up, nice trial at Newcastle to tick her over and she flies fresh.
6. Hard To Say: No J Mac so B Shinn has taken over when it comes to the rider tax in betting. He is a beauty this guy and closed off strongly last time. But, he is 0/3 at 1200m and this will be a hard 1200m. Even with B Shinn, keen to oppose.
7. Prince Of Boom: Game effort in The Syndicate last Saturday but he’s drawn wide and I think will have too much on his plate in order to get across. Not for me.
8. Hedged: Hedged is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Razor Sharp at Randwick where he was keen on speed and using that energy early just told on him late in the piece, tiring to be beaten under two lengths by Jedibeel. Hard fit, and better racing manners, he can win.
9. Nettuno: Nettuno looks to be sneaky flying for Tony Gollan and can take this out. He was enormous in the Falvelon I thought. Four wide the entire trip, near the food truck on the turn, but still wound up with purpose and clocked good late splits. If the breaks go his way, he is certainly good enough to win.
10. The Novelist: He does tend to race best when leading and I can’t see him holding out the likes of Zarastro and Steady Ready. T Clark is on, should hold a forward spot…but can’t see him leading throughout.
11. Lavish Empire: Very interesting runner. Unlucky in the Cup last year and is first up, clearly set for the race. He’ll love the hot speed in front but if they overdo it in front, he can launch over the top and a win wouldn’t shock.
12. Goldsborough: Racing well at the moment but not up to these.
13. Shalailed: Stable is flying, dominant win last Saturday…but surely not.
14. Baroque Road: Plain last week in The Syndicate. Needs it easier.
15. Economics: Bit of confidence from the stable to run here and not the Country Cup. Whether that is a lead, not sure, but purely on form, he’s not up to this level.
16. Bubba’s Bay: SCR

They look like they hum in front here with a host of go forward horses engaged. Zarastro and Steady Ready will hunt up and likely be 1-2 early, but The Novelist and Prince Of Boom have great early toe as well. Economics and Baroque Road will likely chance their arm in going forward.
