Notation has opened an $8 favourite with TAB to win the $500,000 Newhaven Park Country Championships Final at Royal Randwick on Saturday April 4.
Prepared by Canberra trainer Matthew Dale, Notation has won two races at Randwick, both on heavy tracks, but last start finished six lengths off Handle The Truth in The Kosciuszko on Everest day in October.
On the next line at $11 is a couple of contenders based at Scone – Bobbing trained by Bernie Kelly and Luna Mia for Paul Messara.
“We saw Hellenism and Mr Wong make some noise about their Country Championship credentials last Saturday at Randwick and both have opened at $26, underlying how competitive this series will be once again”, TAB’s Gerard Middleton said.
“The Kosciuszko is a natural starting reference point, however, that day Notation found the track a bit firm, and should there be some give in the ground, she has proven she can sail through it at Randwick.”
