Punters can now bet on Camel racing

Well, in a dry, arid country like Australia, this had to happen.

Camel racing has been going on a while now, but in two weeks time, up in the western downs region of Queensland, it will be elevated to a whole new level of importance!

Racing Queensland has received an application form the Tara Camel Racing Festival, and have agreed to their request.

That being – betting is allowed on the big two-day carnival.

How long behind will Tabcorb be…is anyone’s guess.

The big two-day meeting is scheduled for Saturday 3 August and Sunday 4th August.

And because I like to make things 100% accurate here is the official sanctioning motion:

Tara to be declared sporting contingencies for the purposes of section 141 of the Racing Integrity Act 2016, for which:

(a) Racing bookmakers for the thoroughbred code of racing may carry on bookmaking at the venue when:

(i) a race meeting is being held at the venue; and

(ii) Racing Queensland is managing the venue; and

(iii) the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission is exercising control at the venue.

(b) Racing bookmakers for the thoroughbred code of racing who hold an off course approval may carry on bookmaking at an approved place for the off course approval and at the times approved by the Minister.

I’m not sure I can say anymore other than the township of Tara is situated somewhere between two other towns called The Gums and Ducklo!

I hope the turnover on the festival is fabulous.
