Surefire has been the key early firmer with Ladbrokes.com.au for the feature race at Geelong on Wednesday, the Geelong Cup (2400m).
The Chris Waller trained import has had little luck since a dominant first up win but he looks like he will get a drying track, 2400m and J Mac is back on. He was double figures all in and final field has been $7 to $6 and is clearly the best backed in early betting.
Favourite for the race is Interpretation at $4.50. He is one of several in this race that need to win in order to secure a start, or at the very least rise in the order of entry, for the Melbourne Cup. Rodrigo Diaz, an import making his Australian debut, is rock solid at $5.
