2024 Randwick Guineas Speed Map
The GaiBott pair of Ganbare and Les Vampires look the main speed. The query is out wide. Encap, do they roll the dice and go forward, and in turn, give the drag across to Celestial Legend, or do both ease back? Militarize lands in a plum spot as does Fukubana.
2024 Randwick Guineas Runner Preview:
1. Militarize: Militarize has the runs on the board and commands respect. He resumed against the big boys and girls in the Apollo and while he was safely held by Fangirl, he was far from disgraced in defeat the star mare and stablemate. Worked well between races last Saturday and he has been set for the race. Hard to beat.
2. Tom Kitten: He’s a good horse. But he just has no early speed it seems and from what I have seen in two runs this prep, he has eyes on 2000m+. I can’t entertain him as a winning threat here. He is my Derby pony and will be waiting til he gets to 2400m at Randwick.
3. Celestial Legend: Celestial Legend has been a star in waiting for some time. He took the first step in the Hobartville and I am confident he can take the second step with a big win here. He was arrogant in the Hobartville. Yes, 12/10 steer by McEvoy, but even allowing for that, he made an absolute mess of them and gee he was impressive. He’ll eat up the Randwick mile, third up, hard fit…I think good luck beating him.
4. Encap: Lot of people are kicking up for him after the Hobartville, and yes, he was wide no cover, but sitting wide was no real disadvantage, so he was flattered a touch. I have queries on him at a strong mile as well, so for mine, I have others ahead of him.
5. Ganbare: I am going to be forgiving of his run in the Hobartville given Tim Clark dropped the whip 300m out and to my eye, he seems a horse that needs proper encouragement. I think at big odds, he can be a big improver and can run top four without shocking.
6. Les Vampires: Gave a good sight in front in the Hobartville and gave a strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Celestial Legend. Can’t see him turning the tables and I question him at a strong mile. Happy to look elsewhere.
7. Fukubana: Nice horse but I don’t think he’s up to this level. Every chance in the Hobartville and was solid in defeat, but had his chance. Not for me here.
8. Ducasse: Arrogant first up win but didn’t fire in the Hobartville, getting back in the run and failed to make up any real headway. He’s not up to this level.
9. Ceowulf: Ceolwulf looks like he will love getting to 2000m+ but I still think he’ll be more than competitive at the mile. He ran in the Hobartville where he was flat footed when the sprint went on but he kept on and was solid to/through the line in defeat behind Celestial Legend. Highly doubt he turns the tables but is a must for exotics.
10. Cafe Millennium: He just hasn’t gone on with it since the debut win, where he looked like Phar Lap 2.0. Aussie Tom jumps back on, but I can’t see him winning.
11. Cosmic Lad: He’s got eyes on the Derby this horse and he seems too one paced to measure up at the mile.
2024 Randwick Guineas $100 Betting Strategy:
I want to be chips in Celestial Legend but the gate has turned me off so it’s $50 win on both Militarize and Celestial Legend, and should make a profit.
