The first of the features this Saturday at the Gold Coast is the TAB Wave (1800m) with a strong field assembled.

2025 TAB Wave Runner Preview:
1. Loch Eagle: He is the class runner and his win three weeks ago at Eagle Farm was strong. My query with him is what did he beat? That form didn’t stand up at all last Saturday and if they do crawl in front, his get back/run on racing style isn’t suited.
2. Brookhaven: Given a great ride in the race mentioned above and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Firmer footing should help but just think he lacks the class.
3. Guzumped: He should be the rank outsider. Horrendously weighted here vs his rivals, and is eligible for midweek races.
4. Gold Bullion: Gold Bullion looks the likely leader and with front end control, is hard to get past, which was seen in the race mentioned above under a peach from Regan. He found plenty under pressure to fend them off and win. He’s found winning form, he can go on with it.
5. Tannhauser: Keen to be with this guy. On face value, he was disappointing last start. But when you break down the sectionals and how easy Gold Bullion got it in front, he was no hope. The sustained market push in that race suggested he was there to play so forgiving him of that run and I reckon there will be more front end pressure this time around, so Tannhauser will get his chance to finish over the top.
6. Encoder: Encoder has to be given another look. He ran in the Gold Bullion race. He was wide throughout but that said, he was a bit on the flat side and couldn’t really get involved. Similar to Tannhauser, more genuine tempo and he can run a much improved race.
7. Dazzle Legend: SCRATCHED
8. Arts Object: Sat outside Gold Bullion and seemed to have her chance but she just couldn’t quite produce the change up speed to win. Lands in a plum spot once again and did win this race last year, so she’s on track to run well again.
9. Three Graces: Flying but she is better suited at country level.
10. Miss Joelene: Big jockey upgrade is the reason why she is so tight in betting I say. Just got too far back at Eagle Farm last time but worked home well behind Zaphod. If within range, she has the finale to take this out.
11. Rapt: Admittedly she had the run of the race last time, but she still had to take advantage of it and she did, winning impressively. That was a Midway but it was a sharp display and she is on the up.
12. Simply Fun: Nice three year old on the up but not for me here.
13. I’m Heroic: The knockout for me. He ran in the same race over 1600m that Simply Fun contested at Eagle Farm. He was tardy away, got a mile out of his ground, but really liked the way he closed off in defeat. 1800m is no issue and has the weight pull to run a positive race at odds.

Gold Bullion led throughout to win over the mile at Eagle Farm so I suspect he will lead again. Simply Fun is drawn wide and I dare say will roll the dice and go forward. Arts Object has a good gate to use and likely lands box seat.
