A horse set to have its first start at Moe on Thursday was heavily backed from $101 into $4.60 before being scratched by stewards.
The Cliff Murray trained Willygood was scratched by stewards at 10:50am on race morning after the betting plunge had taken place.
The 3YO filly had sustained heavy support after she opened at massive odds of $101 which saw her shorten in early markets down to $11 with the TAB and Sportsbet.
She then settled at around $4.60 with most bookmakers on Thursday morning after scratchings but as with most heavily backed big priced runners she was drifting slightly in markets.
Trainer Cliff Murray said he suspected local track watchers at Sale had taken a fancy to her trials and were the reason for the betting plunge.
“She’s had half a dozen trials … seems to be going all right. But that’s about it,” Murray told Racing.com.
“I would say it’s just local people who have seen her at jumpouts.
“She’s shown good ability, but just at those local jumpouts. She probably hasn’t been tested properly.
“She hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Following the news punters on twitter have hit out creating a bit of a conspiracy that the TAB had orchestrated the scratching.
