Champion unbeaten mare Zarkava safely foaled a colt by champion sire Redoute’s Choice on Monday morning at the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in France.
The colt is described by Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France as “a very elegant foal that is correct and strong.”
Zarkava (Zamindar-Zarkasha by Kahyasi) whose seven victories included five at Group 1 level, will now visit the unbeaten champion Frankel.
Redoute’s Choice is covering a second high-class book of mares at Haras de Bonneval, among them 18 Aga Khan mares. They include the dams of Group winner Valyra & Bayrir, a sister to Classic sire Azamour, and the Group 1 winners Rosanara, Shalanaya, Daryakana & Mandesha.
Redoute’s Choice is enjoying a splendid season in Australia with progeny earnings of almost $6 million and seven stakeswinners headed by the sprinting sensation Lankan Rupee, winner of the Oakleigh Plate G1 & last Saturday’s Newmarket H. G1.
Thirty-four yearlings by Redoute’s Choice will be offered at next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Sale, among them 6 colts & 3 fillies in the Arrowfield draft.
