When it comes to horse racing, there is nothing quite like a boom on a two year old and the fascination as to how they will handle the race day pressure. Successful boom two year olds this season have been Capitalist and Extreme Choice, but there have been bad failures, and here is myΒ top five boom to bust juveniles.
Honourable Mentions To:
Concealer. She won like a star on debut on Cup Day down the straight and was strongly fancied to win the Blue Diamond, but didn’t go on with it and overall, her prep in the Autumn was a disappointment, which ended with a poor effort down the straight behind Thyme For Roses. Listed short course races look her go, but she won’t be reaching the Group l heights she promised.
Weatherly has the potential, but he is a real nut case upstairs. Off the back of an impressive trial win, he was well backed to win the Blue Diamond Preview. He went on to win well in the fast late at Flemington before failing in the Todman. Once the screws in his head are on properly, he’ll be a good horse, but I’m not sure he’ll be a star, as he first promised.
