Plenty of stallion news has surfaced and here is the latest.
The blockbuster news was the release of the Widden Stud stallion roster and Trapeze Artist (Snitzel-Treppes) debuts at a staggering, no wait , whopping $99,000.
To bring how ambitious that price is into perspective, his sire Snitzel hasn’t left us any champions at stud yet.
He doesn’t have a sire-son in the Top 50 list.
Shamus Award (Snitzel) is currently sitting in 29th on the 3YO Sires list with his progeny earnings $4 million behind Zoustar who is by Northern meteor.
And Shamus Award is the best of the Snitzel sons at stud.
As for the 2YO Sires List – the deceased Time For War is carrying the tin can for Snitzel and he’s 18th, $2million behind I Am Invincible and First Season sire sensation, Queensland’s Telemon Thoroughbreds’ Sidestep (Exceed and Excel).
And that seque from Sidestep brings us to a reality check for Widden.
The Darley roster of stallions has been released with proven and multiple Gr 1 getting stallions Exceed and Excel at $88,000 and Lonhro at $77,000 leading the way. Check their prices: both have proven time and time again that they will get a star yet they are less than Trapeze Artist!
Astern (Medaglia D’oro-Essaouira) and Kementari (Lonhro-Yavanna) are next on $33,000 followed by the in form Epaulette (Commands-Accessories) at $27,500, then a slew of them at $22,000 inclduing Sidestep (Exceed and Excel-Dextrous); Impending (Lonhro-Mnemosyn); Exosphere (Lonhro0Altitude); English stars Harry Angel (Dark Angel-Beatrix Potter) & Ribchester (Iffraaj-Mujarah) and Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor-Listen Here).
They have some affordable ones too in Holler (Commands-Shouts) at $8,800 and Hallowed Crown (Street Sense-Crowned Glory) at $11,000.
Twin hills Stud, south of Sydney stands Odyssey Moon (Snitzel-Run To The Moon) for $8,800 and their stud star Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock-Comical Smile)at $22,000 and their brand new stallion to the roster for 2019 – the proven star Denman (Lonhro-Peach) who will open at Twin Hills for a very affordable $8,800.
