Dale Monteith is the right man for the job

In his latest exclusive blog for online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au, champion jockey Chris Munce gives his take on Dale Monteith’s role at Eagle Farm and is optimistic about the future prospects for the troubled racecourse.

Muncey also previews a big day of racing at Doomben where he tips Clearly Innocent as the one to beat in the Stradbroke, despite a poor barrier draw.

I’ve not met Dale Monteith, but from what I have learned he is the right man to get Eagle Farm back to top racing order.

The Racing Minister, Grace Grace,  appointed Mr Monteith to conduct and independent review. I’m not sure what that will accomplish, because we all know the track has issues that need to be rectified.

From day one when work was scheduled to start, which was way back in August 2014, there has been nothing but problems and controversy. The track was supposed to re-open in 12 months. We’re coming up to three years and it is obviously still not right.

Provided politics doesn’t get in the way Mr Monteith has the credentials to get things moving in the right direction and hopefully make the best decisions for the industry here.

One of the few positives at Eagle Farm is the training set-up on the inside of the track. I moved in last week and have gone from having four separate stabling venues, including one at the Sunshine Coast, to having 40 boxes on track.

It has taken a while, but it’s been worth the wait. All the horses have settled in to their new digs and it’s refreshing to have them all in the same complex.
