We all know American racing isn’t as good as Australian racing.
Nor as good as: Hong Kong racing, New Zealand racing, French racing, Irish racing, English racing, German racing etc, etc.
Not as good in the sense they allow ridiculous race calling, they run for poor prizemoney in the main, they run horses on Lasix, they make steward’s calls that defy logic or common sense, oh and the biggest guffaw – they operate under Category 2 Rules of Racing.
But maybe because of the worst steward’s decision in the history of horse racing anywhere on the planet, which occurred a few hours ago in this stakes race at Monmouth Park (New Jersey) today, the stewards decision to DQ this winner will FINALLY wake the world up to protest and to boycott American racing.
Just watch this race.
The winner, despite having all the momentum, despite going to the lead inside the last furlong, despite NOT effecting the placings one iota….is disqualified because of this run.
Even under the Cat 2 rules he should not have been DQ. But from a global racing stand point, to take this race off the winner is down right criminal. The theatrics of the 2nd rider were laughable too and he should be fined.
But the DQ – it is GROSS negligence and should tell ALL punters: Don’t bet on North American racing again.
This is an embarrassment to horse racing in all of North America.
To their credit, the Canadians have applied to have the Category 1 rules, making them in line with the rest of the world, implemented at season’s end. Meaning they can divorce themselves from the draconian standards of American racing.
It will come and hopefully they can use this footage as proof that the Cat 2 rules are profoundly…STUPID.
