Fans angry over Black Heart Bart’s racing return

Black Heart Bart - Makybe Diva Stakes

Black Heart Bart is the favourite heading into the Underoowd Stakes

Group One winner Black Heart Bart could be poised for a return to racing despite having been retired after a series of poor performances and injuries.

Trainer Lindsey Smith who hails from Western Australia where Black Heart Bart did his early racing before he made the move to Darren Weir’s stable has announced that the rising nine year old could return to the races despite being retired last year.

The five-time Group 1 winner could trial next week at Ballarat if he passes a vet test which is required after he finished 16th in the Toorak Handicap last spring which was dubbed his last run.

The decision to race the much loved horse again has caused a bit of a stir on social media with fans unhappy that he would be asked to race again after a long and successful career.
