Don’t mind getting on the first at Warwick Farm during your lunch break on a Wednesday? Well chances are, if your one the blue one then your having a win. James Cummings for Godolphin has an incredible midweek record so far this season, with 48 winners from 125 starts (38%) at Canterbury Park, Hawkesbury, Newcastle, Warwick Farm, Wyong and Gosford.
On top of 48 winners at these venues, Cummings has had a further 50 minor places, an overall record of 98 places from 125 starts (78%). He has also had 29 maidens break through at these tracks this season, over half of the total winners.
Hawkesbury has been the most prolific track for Cummings so far for 2017-18, with a spectacular 12 winners from 24 starts. He has been unplaced just 5 times at the venue, with a further 8 minor places here, contributing to a 50% win and 83% place record. He has had 4 training doubles here since the 3rd of August, as well as a triple on Thursday the 9th of November with Seine Net, Beijing Board and Duca Valentinois.
Gosford has also been a happy hunting ground for James Cummings and Godolphin, winning just under 50% of races here and placing 69% of the time, with 6 wins and 3 places from 13 starts, highlighted by a double on Thursday the 7th of September (Demerara and Osborne Bulls).
A similar record to Gosford, Cummings has also had 6 wins from 14 starts at Wyong (42%). The remainder of his midweek and Sunday winners for 2017-18 have come at Canterbury and Newcastle, as well as his training base Warwick Farm, with each of these tracks producing 8 wins for Godolphin.
In comparison to his Saturday Metro record at Randwick and Rosehill, Cumming’s has done much better elsewhere, winning just 11 from 81 races (13%) at Randwick and Rosehill. He has had a mere 2 wins from 37 starts at Flemington (5%) and only 3 wins from 30 starts at Caulfield (10%).
In addition to his standout midweek record for 2017-18, James Cummings has also had a very successful partnership with jockeys Brenton Avdulla, Tye Angland and Jeff Penza. At the top of the list, Avdulla has ridden 15 winners for James Cummings and Godolphin this season from his 41 rides, including another 8 places, winning at 36% and placing at 56%. Tye Angland and Jeff Penza have also been successful for Godolphin, each with 9 wins from 27 starts (33%), with Jeff Penza being placed an average 2 out of 3 rides for James Cummings this season.
James Cummings has 5 runners at Warwick Farm and Gosford this week, starting off with $4.20 equal favourite ‘Savatiano’ at Warwick Farm in race 3 on Wednesday. Be sure to put the house on Brenton Avdulla next time he rides in a maiden for Godolphin at Hawkesbury, not a chance it will lose!
