Hands up if you remember the great tearaway from decades ago, named Scotch And Dry?
Or from say 30 years ago named Black Tetra?
Well, have a look at this for a tearaway at Newcastle today in England.
Named Jack Hyde and ridden by his owner, an amateur jockey, he went to the early lead in his 2 mile race (3200m), then when they all dropped anchor, he just took off.
With 2000m to go he had established an imposing 15 lengths lead.
At the half way mark that had increased to 25 lengths.
With 800m left he was 50 lengths in front. Iβm not kidding you.
Watch the race to see how it panned out.
This sort of tactic will bring followers back to the sport. I was engrossed all the way.
Who doesnβt love a front-runner.
