Wow, this was some sort of effort.
And while plaudits are flying, some sort of job performed by Aaron Bullock too, just to stay on top.
CLOUDLAND (Swiss Ace β Commiserate) started $3.60 fav but just didnβt want to win the 5th race at Muswellbrook.
He was on debut and after tracking up well behind the leaders, he turned for home in 2nd spot on the inside rail. Bullock asked him to respond which he didnβt want to do but his over all power, and huge size did, anyway.
Once he railed up to grab the lead he started to hang⦠and hang and hang.
Now, this Muswellbrook straight is pretty wide, wider than most tracks because it has a cutaway rail so to be in front of a pack of 14 horses chasing behind and to steer a course against both the rider and punters hopes and desires is pretty dangerous.
This newcomer did anyway.
He went right across the face of the field, not even thinking about the race but still galloping. Bullock doing everything in his power to straighten him, and to simply stay on.
Before he knew it, Cloudland had run all over the shop and the entire straight probably 30m further than anything else yet still won by over a length.
Iβve never seen a horse want to lose a race more in my entire life.
Watch: Cloudland turns on the inside fence and ends up on the outside fence β yet still wins. (Can you find footage of this race 5 at Muswellbrook today).
