Group 1-winning gelding Aegon has been retired following an impressive five-year career on the track.
Trainer and co-owner Andrew Forsman confirmed the decision, citing the horse’s declining finishing power as a key factor.
The six-year-old claimed six victories from 33 starts, highlighted by wins in the New Zealand 2000 Guineas and Karaka Million 3YO Classic.
Aegon also made his mark internationally, finishing a strong fifth in the prestigious Champions Mile in Hong Kong.
With over NZ$2 million in earnings, he now heads to Pukekohe, where former strapper Hanna Orting will oversee his retirement.
