Talented jockey Alana Kelly is set to make her highly anticipated comeback to racing after enduring a harrowing fall in April.
The accident occurred during a maiden race at Donald, tragically claiming the life of fellow rider Dean Holland.
Following extensive rehabilitation both mentally and physically, Kelly is ready to take on a handful of rides at Thursday’s Swan Hill meeting.
During the accident, which occurred in a maiden race at Donald, Kelly suffered hand and thumb fractures, as well as tendon damage when her mount, Time To Rumble, went down.
She made the courageous decision to postpone her return until she was completely recovered, and now she’s poised for her long-awaited comeback.
Kelly is likely to have three or four rides at Swan Hill on Thursday, with her weight not going below 55 kilograms.
However, as the spring season approaches, she plans to be available for lightweight rides at around 52 kilograms.
