Australia’s top racehorses, including Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner Without A Fight, are among the notable entries for the 2024 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races on December 8. Without A Fight leads the Australian charge in the Hong Kong Vase, alongside other contenders like Duke De Sessa, Buckaroo, Land Legend, and Via Sistina. Andrew Forsman’s Positivity and Jan Brueghel could also make an appearance.
Mr Brightside from Lindsay Park holds dual nominations for the Hong Kong Cup and Hong Kong Mile, where he could again face Romantic Warrior, Hong Kong’s top horse. Chris Waller’s Buckaroo and Via Sistina are also nominated for the 2000-metre Hong Kong Cup.
Cox Plate competitors Prognosis and Docklands are eyeing the Hong Kong Cup, while Toorak Handicap winner Antino is expected to contest the Hong Kong Mile, marking a key absence of five-time competitor Golden Sixty.
Four Australian sprinters, including Recommendation, Ostraka, and Group 1 winner Lady Laguna, are nominated for the Hong Kong Sprint.
The 2024 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races will feature a record HK$126 million purse across four Group 1 races. Local hero Romantic Warrior aims to become the first horse to win the Hong Kong Cup three times.
“We are beyond pleased with the entries for the 2024 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races,” said Andrew Harding, Executive Director of Racing, Hong Kong Jockey Club.
