The Autumn Carnival is starting to warm up and the good horses are fast approaching their kick off point with eyes towards bigger prizes over the next couple of months.
Here at Justhorseracing, we have contacted several trainers and asked about their stable stars as to where they are heading this Carnival. Please note that the plans down below could change.
Chris Waller:
Verry Elleegant – Similar path to last year with the Queen Elizabeth (2000m) being her main target. Australian Cup is a potential option but preference is Sydney.
September Run – Resumes this Saturday, her main target is the Newmarket Handicap (1200m). A Sydney campaign will be known after the Newmarket and how she does there.
Hungry Heart – Her first main target is the Surround (1400m) and we’ll follow a 3YO Fillies path towards the Vinery (2000m). That run will tell us if she heads towards the ATC Oaks (2400m) or the Doncaster (1600m).
Funstar – Her targets this prep will be the All Star Mile (1600m) and Doncaster (1600m).
Toffee Tongue – Won’t see the best of her until she gets to 2000m+ so the Ranvet (2000m) and Tancred (2400m) are likely targets for her.
Madam Rouge/Subpoenaed – Coolmore Classic (1500m) is their main target this prep
Star Of The Seas/Kolding – Both being aimed at the Chipping Norton (1600m) and from there, potentially the Doncaster (1600m).
Shared Ambition – Parramatta Cup (1900m) will be his next start and that will determine what path we take.
Imaging – Canterbury Stakes (1300m) will be his next start, then likely heading towards a Doncaster Mile (1600m).
Shaquero – More than likely the Todman Stakes (1200m) en route to the Golden Slipper (1200m).
John Thompson
Sweet Deal – Has another trial at Randwick. Will resume in the Guy Walter (1400m), second up into the Coolmore Classic (1500m) and then third up will be the Coolmore Legacy (1600m).
Mamaragan – Has another trial before resuming in the Fireball (1100m). Second up potentially either the Darby Munro (1200m) or Galaxy (1100m) with third up being the Arrowfield Sprint (1200m).
Fituese – Chipped her knee last start in the Spring, so she is still spelling. Hopefully can get her back for a Brisbane campaign in the Winter.
Dreamforce – Resumes in the Apollo (1400m) on Saturday before the Canterbury Stakes (1300m). His main target is the George Ryder (1500m).
Purple Sector – Trials this week before resuming in the Newcastle Newmarket (1300m), then goes to the Doncaster (1600m).
Mark Newnham
Greysful Glamour – Goes to the Guy Walter (1400m) before the All Star Mile (1600m).
Harmony Rose – Resumes next Wednesday before going to the Kembla Classic (1600m), then the Vinery (2000m) towards the Oaks (2400m).
Skymax – Goes to the Roy Higgins (2500m) on Feb 27 before potentially the Manion Cup (2400m) en route to the Sydney Cup (3200m).
Spirit Ridge – Will go to the Randwick City Stakes (2000m) then the Manion Cup (2400m) to get ready for the Sydney Cup (3200m).
Quackerjack – Requires knee surgery so he’ll be in the paddock.
Splintex – Trials again before resuming in the Challenge (1000m), then second up into the Galaxy (1100m).
Every Rose – Resumes on Saturday in the Light Fingers (1200m) before second up into the Surround (1400m).
Miravalle – Resumes in the Surround (1400m) before following a similar path like Harmony Rose
Brad Widdup
Icebath – Resumes in the Triscay this Saturday before heading towards the Mares races. Potentially then heads to Brisbane for the Stradbroke and Tatts Tiara.
Danny O’Brien
Russian Camelot – Ideally first up into the All Star Mile (1600m) en route to the Queen Elizabeth (2000m). Other option is George Ryder (1500m) or potentially resume in the Futurity (1400m).
It’sourtime – Provided he pulls up well from the weekend, likely heading to the Australian Guineas (1600m).
Young Werther – His main aim is the Australian Derby (2400m). Plenty of options as to how to get there, whether he stays in Melbourne for the Alister Clark (2040m) or tackles the Sydney horses.
Anthony Cummings
Libertini – First up in the Galaxy (1100m) before the TJ Smith (1200m), then potentially the Sangster (1200m).
Prince Fawaz – Resumes in the Chipping Norton (1600m) before heading to the Ranvet (2000m) en route to the Queen Elizabeth (2000m).
Mizzy – Oakleigh Plate (1100m) is her next start and from there, either will be the Coolmore Classic (1500m) or freshened up for the Sangster (3200m).
Kris Lees
Mugatoo – Resumes in the Apollo on Saturday before the All Star Mile (1600m) with the Queen Elizabeth (2000m) being the main target
Collide – His main aim is the Sydney Cup (3200m). How he gets there is unsure at this stage.
Evalina – Being aimed at the Coolmore Classic (1500m), but plenty of options for her being a Mare.
Chief Ironside – He is taking an extended spell so he won’t be seen this Autumn.
Special Reward – Back in work and will be ready for the latter part of the Autumn before Brisbane.
Tactical Advantage – Suffered an eye injury after his run at Eagle Farm, so hopefully will be back for the Brisbane Winter.
Cristal Breeze/Animate – Provincial Championship #1/#2 seeds for the stable
