Jockey Ben Thompson has locked in a lightweight ride for the Caulfield Cup, partnering with Ciaron Maher’s recent import, Sayedaty Sadaty.
The Northern Hemisphere three-year-old, who placed in three Stakes races this year and finished fifth in the Epsom Derby, has been allocated 50kg for both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, with the Caulfield Cup being his primary spring target.
Thompson, who rode at 50kg in last yearโs Melbourne Cup aboard True Marvel, is eager for another chance in this year’s race, especially with key contenders Without A Fight and Via Sistina unlikely to feature.
Sayedaty Sadaty is currently at $34 in the Caulfield Cup odds.
Other international contenders, including Onesmoothoperator and Prognosis, have also arrived ahead of the spring.
